Twelve :o
twelve:what do you think makes a good poem/good writing?
I think everyone has a different idea of that but personally I just like something that evokes emotion, has some kind of intensity and is atmospheric. I like reading experimental forms. The reason I write a lot more poetry than I do prose rn is mostly because I see poetry as more of a slice of something rather than a typically well-rounded, complete thing. But yeah, I donât have hard and fast rules, if you want to write poetry you should imo~(PS I also really think artists shouldnât shy away from social/political themes, like even if itâs not a consistent theme in your writing. Of course writers have and will be jerks and their work has/will still sell and have âliterary meritâ - whatever that is - but itâs 2016 ok and art is powerful so yeah)thanks Laura!
Philosopher, Sparrow?
Philosopher: What are some tenets you live by?Trying to be an overall nice person, trying to be happy I guess. Try to be outspoken about the things that matter. I suck at any kind of relationship but I try really hard, does that count. But at least my dog likes meSparrow: What are your goals for the next four months?Try and be on time with 52 weeks (this probably wonât happen) or at least less than a month behind. Submit to lit mags. I want to put together a chapbook maybe but honestly no one would read it anyway, itâd be kind of worthless. Also, write an actual short story. Figure out my life. Order pizza. Cry. That got out of hand. Thanks Laura!
My self⌠is a dramatic ensemble. Here a prophetic ancestor makes his appearance. Here a brutal hero shouts. Here an alcoholic bon vivant argues with a learned professor. Here a lyric muse, chronically love-struck, raises her eyes to heaven. Here papa steps forward, uttering pedantic protests. Here the indulgent uncle intercedes. Here the aunt babbles gossip. Here the maid giggles lasciviously. And I look upon it all with amazement, the sharpened pen in my hand. A pregnant mother wants to join the fun. âPshtt!â I cry, âYou donât belong here. You are divisible.â And she fades out.

Okay. Here. I'll come off anon. (I was the first 2) I tend to stay on it when I ask people things. I've asked things you've agreed with, even. Wasn't meant to be hate. That's why it was such a quick response. Because I follow you already. And I know you post social justice things, that's part of why I followed you! Occasionally I will ask (apparently it can seem like a challenge) because I'm curious. I follow several people who call themselves queer so I guess I've gotten into the habit. Sorry.
I donât have a problem with people asking me questions on anon. Thatâs not the issue. But... youâve been following me for a while now, so Iâm pretty confused as to why youâd think Iâm someone who wants to play the âbut not all straight people have bad intentions!â game.
I know not all straight people are horrible.
But the ones who say that, who just have to point out that not all straight people are intentionally harmful instead of acknowledging that straight people have certain privileges and gain certain benefits from them... those people donât tend to be the good guys.

5. What are you looking forward to in the next week?Hopefully watching PLL and Castle/some horror movie with you! But I know your laptopâs never down for that. I have movie plans with narrativist too. Iâm posting this here so you guys canât bail on me.I only have one exam left. So I can relax a little. Maybe start reading some books and slowly throw off my self-imposed reading ban.27. Are you listening to music right now?No. I wish I could say I was and rattle off some awesome artists (The Staves, Ruby Day, OMAM, Daughter, Vanessa Carlton, TBM, Chvrches, The Paper Kites, Birdy ) but Iâm not. : (42. Where did you get the shirt/sweatshirt youâre wearing?Ma bought it for me. Itâs a green one but itâs not as cool as the one I was wearing yesterday. It was red and had a catâs face on it. I wish youâd asked me yesterday! Thanks! <3
Hair, wrists, nose?
What hair color looks best on you and what's your natural color? I really, really like the blue my hair is right now, even though the dye stains e v e r y t h i n g and it fades to a mildly unpleasant purple-grey color. Naturally it's dark brown.
Have you ever broken a bone? Not by accident! I've had bones broken on purpose and shoved around, but when trained professionals do that it's called surgery and they get paid for it.
What is your favorite perfume/candle fragrance? I don't wear perfume very often, but when I do it's almost always this.
