Describe a setting... Okay. Here goes. The sound of the ocean was relentless, the rush of the tide coming in, the swish of it on the rocks, a constant reminder of where I was and who I wasn't with. It was still dark in the room I'd booked for the night, I was happy to give this motel a five star rating on their ability to affix quality block out curtains alone. I turned over on the lumpy pillow topper, the fleece fitted sheet had long been abandoned amidst the clothing I had been wearing when I'd arrived. They don't warn you about the humidity in places like this. They really should. Considering I'd packed for the middle of winter and there was no time before my meeting to shop for a respectable dress to wear I am bound to be the obvious newbie foreign correspondent in a room full seasoned travellers. Perhaps my boss figured I would have done some research before packing to board a plane to the Philippines. Perhaps I would have if I hadn't spent my last hours arguing with my husband about who should feed the dog while we're both away. Imagine if we'd had the child we had talked about. I shudder at the thought. #authorschallenge2019 #scene #setting #narrativepractice #writingprompts #julypromptschallenge #authormathomas #amwriting https://www.instagram.com/p/Bzw-5PRAXDL/?igshid=djn4ews31hbb
