Like on one hand, what a magnificent world we live in that some entrepreneur(s) could facilitate this kind of fan-based concept. On the same coin comes the horror of realizing we live in a world where someone made an actual business model based on fandom. Like... can you imagine being the financier who's supposed to be seeing that this business gets funded, and you've someone trying to explain all the selling points of this establishment but not only are 80% of the words Japanese (and you don't know what the hell a hitai-ate is but apparently they've got them with the company logo on them) but 18% of what isn't, is all fiction based, but you're being paid to smile and nod so you do.

Like, as a lingering Narutard from before you could get the manga printed in English (fansubs, baby!), I throw no shade on whoever's following their dream to do this but holy shit I am having a hard time reconciling it in my poor monkey brain.

Ah...it was just really awkward and ill-prepared. Everyone tried talking about more...serious things...but in a really awkward and uncomfortable way. In the end, they were running so short on time that they had to seriously cut short the introductions and speeches for best actor, actress, and film, which were like...the most important categories of the show.

I don’t get how if someone forgets to mention Israel in something to do with the middle east, people automatically assume you’re anti-semitic. I mean there are other religions that live there too, it’s not just populated by Jews.

That's why I said 95%. I'm not saying it's always true, but this is a specific case talking about charities, and most of these charities are talking about peace or helping the people suffering "in the middle east" and if that's true, and then you exclude Israel, it's usually because of a bias about Israel and what they are doing and how it's a war there and how both sides are wrong and right in different ways and basically both sides have victims and need help. And if you're ignoring Israel, USUALLY it has something to do more with your allegiances to the "Arab vs Jew war" (WHICH IS NOT A THING I BELIEVE IN AT ALL BUT IS A THING MANY PEOPLE DO) and less about helping all the people affected by the stuff going on in the middle east.
