This wasn't happening, this couldn't be happening. Lorelei and Nancy where on the ground, completely lifeless with Nancy practically snapped in half and the strings pulled off and Lorelei being beaten down. They didn't see it coming, they were resting up after band practice, talking about the new bassist and their new bass, laughing and making bets on how long it'd take for them to leave and if whether the drummer or the bassist would leave first. Nancy went to the closet and she was taking off her boots and slipping on Rocky's Nirvana hoodie feeling cold and her feet feeling sore when she suddenly had heard Lorelei scream.

She turned back and ran to the garage, wide eyed from the sight, Lorelei was on the ground with her arm being held and bent back by a familiar figure, the drums from the drummer. Lorelei had been teasing him and snickering at the guy, he looked pissed as hell, looking like he was going to break her arm in a split second. 

"NANCY LOOK OUT BEHIND YA!" Lorelei managed to yell out, but it was too late, Nancy looked back and another figure stepped from behind the door and grabbed Nancy and pulled him into his arms. He squeezed her, making her bend and arch her back painfully. 

"Motherfuck-ARGH!" She tried to speak, but was constricted by the bass's arms. 

"NANCY!!" Lorelei yelling for her, "LET US GO YOU ASSHOLES. YOU'LL BE SORRY!" 

"Lo..Lorelei..." Nancy trembled, the bass's arms were holding her tighter now, threatening to break her right in half. 

"No, no, no, no, no, no. Nancy, Nancy, c'mon don't lose to thes- URGH!" Lorelei was trying to reassure her lover before the drums put even more pressure on her arm, bending it even further. 

"Wh..y.. are you.. guys.. doing this?" Nancy managed to mutter out. All the bass did was smirk and started laughing, "Because the two new members of your shitty band decided, everything would be better without you all." He mocked as he gave one final squeeze with all his might and cracked, then broke Nancy right in the middle. Her eyes went completely blank, her body became loose and lifeless with small tears in her eyes. 

"NO!!!!!" Lorelei roared, trying to lunge forward to get to Nancy, but she was stopped by both the boys now, holding on both her arms with their knees on her back. They stretched and pulled her arms backwards while holding one hand down on her head. Her arms were strong to withstand them for only so long before, snap! Both her arms got dislocated from her shoulders, she screamed out only to be muffled by the drums's hand. The grabbed Lorelei by her hair and dragged her to wear Nancy was left. The dropped her and smashed her head right on the concrete  the quickly left as soon as they started hearing Spook and Rocky come downstairs, talking about which song to play at their next gig. 

In Nancy's mind, it's always just referred to as It. Capitol "I". Sometimes it's The Accident, but usually that gets too close to the heart of the matter.

Usually, it's just It, and It Happened, as It is wont to do.

Rocky doesn't treat her the same after It. He doesn't take her out much anymore, and when he does, its always with this guilty expression, like he doesn't think its fair that he gets to keep her when Spook-

No, that's getting too close again.

Nancy reads issues of Playboy Rocky keeps stashed under his bed and tries very hard not to think. She doesn't have much else to do while he's at school. The articles are good. The girls are pretty.

There's one, with dark skin and darker hair that looks almost like-

No. No, she doesn't.

Come on, Nancy, get it together. You told yourself you wouldn't think about It. Promised.

Spook doesn't look at her now, or he tries not to. When he does, it's with jealous eyes, with pain and anger. He hasn't been the same since It happened. Nancy doesn't blame him. She hasn't been the same, either.

Nancy dreams about It sometimes. Well, all the time, really. Over and over again, whenever she dreams at all. The nights where she doesn't dream are the best, when sleep gives way to a blissful black unconsciousness.

She's defenseless in her sleep, though, and It plays on repeat behind her eyelids, like a terrible drive-in movie.

The feel of the side of the car caving in, being pulled from the wreckage, flashing lights and sirens and every moment blurring together. Rocky pulled her into his arms, grabbed Spook as well, until they pulled her out too-

Nancy wakes up and massages her face with her hands, trying to bury the memories again. It's too late, though. She can't erase it.

They had been on their way to show when another car had slid on the ice, right through a red light, and into them. Nancy had been fine, and Rocky, and Spook, but-

no no no no she doesn't want to think about this not again

-but Lorelei-

no no please no

-they'd pulled Lorelei from the wreckage, and her neck was at a weird, impossible angle-

oh god no not again

Nancy pulls her knees up to her chest and lets out a small, choked sob.

"I'm sorry, Lorelei," she mumbles, and she's not sure if she's sorry that Lorelei is dead or if she's sorry that she lived.
