It's been a while since I've watched it so I might be wrong. But I remember I actually kind of liked the ending to Weeds.
Nancy and Andy finally hooking up and then not speaking to eachother for years didn't feel like a terrible end to their dynamic.
Ending a crime drama with the main character dead or in prison is cliched. Having Nancy come out on top because the drug just became legal and endemic, that's still ahead of its time.
Characters I would willingly let wreak absolute havoc on my life (and gut me as a person):
