But Candy not knowing about his musical aspiration doesn't make sense either. She knew he had a group in High School, she knew he loved playing, he almost left High school to pursue a professional career with Debrah.... on the one hand, like i’ve said before, i get why some stuff doesn’t add up, because at the end of the day, UL is aimed to drag new people in, and spark their interest in HSL so people go back to it. not entirely smart considering the beginning quality of HSL, and the inconsistencies, but you know. UL is a marketing ploy for newer players with bigger purses, as HSL doesn’t age well. most of the original players of it, going back 7 years, fit into the demographic of UL now. it’s also an attempt to keep their existing older audience into it, but well, we all know how well that went down lmfao

The other part of the convo that pissed me off is when Castiel says that Candy decides to move overnight. Like, what? No one decides to lobe overnight. What the hell does that means? From ep 1 I thought he accepted the move and they tried to make the long distance relationship work and then broke up after a year or so. From what Castiel said it

Seemed like they'd broken up when Candy left. It also seemed like Candy hadn't told him about the moving until the very end. Who would do that? It makes no sense and I can't help but feel that this is bc of the poor writing. So not only did Beemoov make a horrible decision that broke the fandom, they can't even be bothered to write about it correctly. Smfh...

To be fair, from ep1 of UL, we’re also told that Candy had no idea about his musical dreams, and that he basically chose his career over a relationship. It’s become a very much pointing of the finger situation, but also like. continuity? never met her.

When I watched @sakurina-mcl​ I was releived and then I watched Aeriie's... He's pissed all right. He says something like "so I don't hear from you in 4 years and you pop up at my concert?" and "You could've call to say you were back in town, my number hasn't changed" and the famous line "What did you expect" comes in

At some point (can't remember when). One thing, though, Aeriie played with Castiel as her ex but she went to the concert with Nathaniel so maybe if she'd gone with Rosa it would have played out differently? I doubt it though. At the end of the convo, he does say "let's wipe the slate clean."

Maybe I'm too sensitive but honestly, given that I DIDN'T CHOOSE TO BREAK UP it was painful to watch. Especially because even IF I'd broken up for the reason Candy apparently did, I would've reacted so differently and kept in contact with EVERYONE, including him.

I might do that then. I’ve only seen caps of the conversation with him as the ex. 

Mmm... see, this is where the issue of who broke up with who (and why) is really starting to show. From ep0, we’re told that the breakup with Castiel was ‘mutual’ in the sense of he chose his career over Candy, which doesn’t fit his character at all considering he has mad abandonment issues. We’re also told continuously by Candy herself that she hadn’t expected Castiel to either have the talent, or the capability, to be as big as he is. There’s no suggestions that he also pursued a university career, and I had assumed that was one thing that would remain consistent (but it isn’t, of course, judging by his profile). Also, Castiel’s fame is questionable, because is it more of a popular local band type thing, or is he famous outside whatever country MCL actually takes place in? Does he just tour the country, or is he just known to do regular bar hopping kind of things? We don’t really get told, because Candy has no idea herself - as we are repeatedly told.

Apparently everyone knows about him, and like a lot of people have pointed out, if Castiel is doing that well, Candy surely would’ve heard of him. Or better yet, picked up a CD every so often even just to like see how he’s going. So what is his actual fame? He’s also able to apparently walk onto campus and attend classes. I’m sorry, but a tattooed redheaded singer would likely be pretty obvious as that guy who sang at the local bar last night. So... what?

Castiel’s POV of the breakup was that they did try the long distance thing, he missed one call because of a concert, and Candy decided it was over. Which I mean, on the one hand, can lend to story telling where POV’s about something that happened are vastly different. Obviously, they’re not going to blame themselves but the other person. But... on the other hand, just excuses the terrible writing and phrasing and forced breakup. I mean, it is interesting, but it also ignores how Candy and Castiel had a lot of early issues in their relationship because of miscommunication, but they worked on it to end up where they were at the end of MCL. 

We’re also continuously reminded that Candy is the one who stopped contact, but she phrases it like no one else made an effort either (which is fair). I feel like every episode wants to reinforce that Candy was in the wrong, completely, because this is one of the few times she actually brings up that her parents forced her to move, and it just... makes things harder. Not saying that challenge isn’t a bad thing, but it just makes everything seem really sour. 

I figured if Nathaniel was brought along, then something would be said by Castiel. Just because it fits how much drama they want to fit in, even though I would’ve hoped some amends would’ve been made... considering that’s what MCL basically implied, that on some level, they tolerated each other, even if they may never have gotten to being ‘friends’, like they almost were. 

Nah, this is just... again, calling in to why the decision to break up with anyone was necessary, why it had to play out like this, and why especially for Armin, Lysander and Kentin players... why they just can’t reaffirm that they’re still interested in them, so no thank you to everyone else. Realistically speaking, if for some reason Castiel and Candy had to break it off, I would see it more as them agreeing to slow it down, but not end it. Castiel really does show he’s dedicated to the relationship, and trying, with how much he gives in to what Candy wants to do (such as keeping the relationship on the down low). So where does this personality come from, where he didn’t try anymore? Choosing his career? That’s how people he loved left him. And again, always, why couldn’t Candy keep up with people, but why couldn’t people also just keep up with her? You don’t have to text every day to keep a relationship going! Some of my best friends... we only text every so often to be like oh yeah hey did you want to catch up? It’s just... poor excuses to use this all for drama, which is horribly executed and just makes people feel worse. And... that’s not what you want for your players.

Nah I haven’t. I watched Sakurina’s stream of the episode, and honestly I’m relieved by the way he was treated and by how he treated Candy. I mean, Sakurina didn’t have him listed as her ex-boyf so idk how different the dialogue is, but he was nice, and actually wanted to talk to Candy.
