Got some new Kava, one is a favorite, the Borogu. It's a nice mellow Kava that can be made strong or just chill for day use. And then I got some Nambawan which I understand is a mix of several kinds and is supposed to be very potent. The "fun" part of Kava is, the brand, kind, age etc all play into how potent it is along with how much Kava vs water/milk/fats. I can make 2 exact batches, 1 water and Kava, and 1 part water part milk and the kava in the same amount and kneed them both the same amount of time and get very different results because the milk, esp if its whole milk has fat that pulls more Kavalactones out. Those strong coconut milk batches I did, that Kava was weaker then usual so the coconut milk made it closer to normal when I have had it before. I normally just use warm water to avoid adding fat into my diet I don't need to. I think I need to get some more lecithin to add in, it will do what the milk does but not add tons of fat or taste. But for what its worth the coconut milk really makes it taste less like drinking dirty water. Ive already made up a batch of the Borogu 1 tablespoon even to 1 cup water, kneaded 10 minutes and 2 cups is a really nice day buzz to take the edge off. The last Borogu I had I had to do almost double that to get the same effect. I'm going to make the Nambawan double strong which is what the recipe actually recommends. But I'll water it down after so its still that 1tblspn to 1cup water ratio. I tend to do 2/3 cup 'shells', so I can do one, see how it goes and water it down more as needed. Last time I tried a really strong one, I was out cold in 30 minutes. I don't want that I just want something for evenings when I'm stressed. And w Sam getting in the trash and me having to watch him all day to make sure he was OK I am stressed. Glad I got my riding out of the way. Fun with Kava. You have your beer, wine, pot. I have my Kava.
