Skype Translator is a fantastic tool that removes the language barrier in your communication in real time.

Last summer, my district rolled out a new LMS called Canvas. One of the many useful features is called Modules. Today, In honor of the great #42, I decided to put together a fun little RTI lesson connecting a story called Pioneer Girl and  Jackie Robinson. 

I subscribe to a daily newsletter by Doug Yonce called TekTok. If you haven’t seen it, you can subscribe here: http://www.svusd.org/technology.html  Naturally, Doug listed a bunch of great Jackie Robinson sources which made putting this lesson together a snap.

A module is a series of tasks where you must complete one before you move on to the next. We began by reading a bio and then learned about  the “color line”. The 3rd task was a discussion board where they had to create a “tweet” from the perspective of a white guy that was playing in the league at the time Jackie broke the “color line” (multiple perspectives). They had to stay within 140 characters and it must contain a thoughtful hashtag.
