Nayenezgani, “Slayer of The Strange Gods”, is an important figure in Navajo culture. Alongisde Tobadzischini, his twin brother, countless evil powers in the forms of birds, animals, rocks and humans, were destroyed. These powers routinely desecrated human lives. His mask, made from an inverted buckskin, is painted black with sacred charcoal with a lightning symbol on one cheek. To each hole in the mask is affixed a bright, white seashell. Turkey plume and eagle down, acquired by the slain Gods, are sewn into the top of the mask.

Tó Neinilii is the rain God of the Najavo people. He is known to have fun and play tricks. Being mischievous, he liked nothing better than a good downpour at the wrong moment. Fortunately his tricks never harm anyone. It was Tó Neinilii that saved the first Navajo from the water monster Tééhoołtsódii. Tó Neinilii was said to often argue with the Navajo god of gambling, Nohoilpe. In times of drought or misfortune due to the weather, it was often said that Tó Neinilii had lost a bet with Nohoilpe. Tó Neinilii is pictured here to the left of Tobdazischini and Nayenezgani, twin brother slayers of wrongful alien deities.
