1) Mikado’s actually a walking contradiction. Most people are of course, they say one thing and do another, but in most cases even when people do that they’re pretty tied to one side of things. What makes Mikado unique is that he’s entirely sincere in all sides of himself.

2) For a variety of reasons I don’t get to play Mikado’s darker nature as overtly as I might like. (Things I hope to change soon.) But people would be very mistaken to believe it’s not there even in his most cheerful responses. 

3) He’s still very torn about the person that he is becoming. He clings to the belief that he is doing this for Masaomi and Anri. And while there is some truth in that it’s also true that he’s doing just what Izaya told him he needed to do. And he’s also growing addicted and lost in what he’s becoming.

4) While he is intensely clever and very intelligent Mikado does have blind spots. Those blind spots aren’t necessarily the people closed to him, or formed because he makes assumptions, but just due to lack of knowledge. 

5) On that line he rarely makes true assumptions about anyone or anything. He’s extremely judgmental. And unless you’re a person of interest he won’t hold a strong memory of you, but his views of people are permeable and adaptable. 

6) He’s an agnostic. Not a true atheist. But on that line he truly does not believe in a god, heaven, or hell. Though he would be open to someone bringing him true proof of their existence. 

7) He’s asexual.. (This is something I want to actually go on a full ramble about one day)

8) He carries a ball point pen collection on him at all times that’s why he always has his messenger bag can you tell I’m struggling yet? I’m sure there are 10 things people wouldn’t think of but my brain isn’t working right.

9) He actually spend very very little time at his apartment. He’s found other places (not just the manga cafe) to hide out at. 

10) He has a really weird taste in music that does not always speak to his character or even his interests. He’ll just randomly like a song even if it’s not something you’d normally associate to him.

Actually most of these are things I really want to expand on in full headcanon format. And I got reminded that I really want to talk about his idealism and naivety.

1) I actually have zero faith in my portrayal of Mikado. There are people who do him far more justice than I do. But I keep trying.

2) I am a full time student at Harvard University through their extension program.

3) I am a folklorist in training, specially Japanese folklore. So I spend a great deal of my free time studying their stories, traditions, and history. 

4) I am easily distracted. Which is a huge part of why I’m slow. 

5) I love experimenting with ideas and concepts. Experimentation is probably the way I stay interested in certain things.

6) I get lonely pretty easily? Which probably is what leads to me being clingy. And to counteract that I tend to shut myself down pretty quickly not wanting to bother people.

7) Which also tends to make me a fairly passive person… but I do have a fairly hostile and unpredictable temper. 

8) I’m also really easily jealous. But I try to keep that as much to myself as possible.

9) Bah I’m going to stop listing negative traits… um. I really really love rainbows. As a metaphor, as an actual thing.. as just.. all they are. Rainbows. All the colors are lovely. 

10) I try really hard to make people feel happy and welcome but I worry a lot that I’m just dull and uninteresting.. like Mikado I have a deep wish to live an interesting life and be more than ordinary.. but I think sometimes that just comes from my average-ness.

1) I want Mikado to stab someone with a pair of scissors.

2) Remember that kind of Bonnie and Clyde but not really thing we were talking about? I want that.

3) Mikado having to choose between himself and Masaomi/Anri.

4) Mikado and Izaya living together and working together… and other things. Of a nsfw variety.

5) Mikado being tortured. I don’t even care how. I just want him tortured. Physically, mentally, emotionally. All of the ways. 

6) I really want to rp a fully realized Mikado. One who can guide both the Blue Squares and the Dollars with confidence and without any sort of fear. A Mikado who’s fully come into himself.

7) A Mikado who returns to who he was and is completely broken by the realization of all he has done.

8) I really want to do something with Mikado and Aoba. Okay I want to do a lot of things with them. Both good and bad.
