  Well, this was a bit of a problem.

  A good part of his days alone were spent wandering around Venice and checking out tourists. All the time he had spent visiting other countries had given him a bit of an idea how people from each region acted and spotting them at home was never too difficult even if it took a few guesses.

  However… he can’t place a solid guess for this boy. Any certain country he tries to put 9s to seems to become a rejected thought, lost after only a few seconds of consideration.

  … It wouldn’t hurt to ask, right? 

It doesn’t take long before you stumble upon a book, that just says “Legends of Stella City”. It’s rather old fashioned, covered in dust that you need to blow off, and packaged in a bright pink cover that feels like it’s screaming for attention.

You flip open the book and read the first few pages…

  Running was a favorite pastime of Art’s, especially when he had a lot to think about. The familiarity and repetitive nature of the exercise made it easy for him to clear his mind, and it helped him condition his body at the same time.

   In Stella City, he had even more than usual to think about, which might have explained why he was so distracted that morning. As he was jogging through a park that he wasn’t yet familiar with, he rounded a bend and very nearly crashed straight into a boy he hadn’t noticed on the path.

  His quick reflexes allowed him to dodge to the side before he literally crashed into him, but unfortunately, he wasn’t quite fast enough to do so neatly. Instead of rolling right back onto his feet as he intended, he tumbled into a heap on his back.

  As he glanced up, his apology died on his lips. This boy was wearing some kind of blindfold over his eyes--had he even seen the near-collision? Well, either way, he should be courteous and properly apologize for it.

Aru had settled in for the first day of work at the hobby shop she’d been assigned, Woolzard Hobby and Game, and was tasked with mainly watching the clerk who she would be replacing on the night shift, a worn and tired ram who seemed completely unfazed by anything.

Indeed, the ram didn’t bat an eye when a strange blindfolded boy came in with what looked like a katana strapped to his back. To Aru he looked like something straight out of a video game and, by her experiences, such an eccentric look usually meant trouble.

Of course.  

Someone that he’s known since the day she was born. 

Starry-eyed ever since Lizzy came into the world, Edward wanted nothing more than to protect her. Elizabeth had always been the energetic one, running ahead with a skip in her step and the brightest of smiles. Edward, on the other hand, cautious and wary, following afterwards and wanting to ensure her safety. She had been another reason why he and Ciel bickered quite often as children; the blond felt as though his cousin was not a suitable companion for her. Ciel often spoke of how women with strength are quite frightening, when Edward believed his dear sister is perfect just as she is. 

At the age of ten, Edward came to realize that she is no need of an older brother to protect her. Lizzy had only just begun her fencing training, and already she had bested him. It was frustrating for many the reasons. One, despite being the eldest, he was far lacking in his abilities. And two, he couldn’t possibly be the one to keep her safe, when she can manage just fine on her own. 

A sword to protect you. 

She, for her fiancé. And he, for her. 

Edward knows that she’s capable. He’s fully aware. Regardless of that fact, he remains as his “over-the-top, enthusiastic, overly-protective” brotherly self. Heaven knows just how much Lizzy herself had to endure; torn between having be “delicately cute” and “earnestly strong,” the duty of being the Watchdog’s wife and shield, all the while trying to keep everyone and anyone happy. 

If there’s anyone she can be wholeheartedly honest with, he hopes it can be him. If there’s anyone that can remain a comforting, warm, and friendly presence in her life despite the hardships, he hopes that it’s him. 

And only Heaven knows just how much he is willing to give to ensure her happiness.
