I agree with you about Flarrow. The Flash episode was really fun and exciting but the Arrow portion had lots of Oliver/a little Felicity Drama, it's not Unenjoyable, Per se, but it's pretty frustrating and a little annoying, especially when you (like me) haven't really been following Arrow.
I actually didn’t finish part 1 yet, so idek if there is a part 2 yet or what... I’m guessing Pt. 2 is an Arrow episode though? It always confuses me. Anyway, yeah. I could do without the Olicity bits.
Yes, I mean I love Felicity... I just don’t see what the grounds for their relationship were. Now before I lose 12 followers or something, let me say this: I don’t ever bash olicity shippers (go right ahead and ship what you like) and for the most part I keep my mildly anti-olicity feelings to myself... So if you ship it, just don’t read this post and you’ll be fine, okay? (Okay... And maybe blacklist “no-licity”, just in case).
Plus, I don’t really even hate-hate them, I more consider them a nah-tp more than a NOOtp. Like I think it's annoying, so I just don’t watch the show anymore. (This is the second DC show I stopped watching over the main couple being problematic. The other one was Smallville in season 8B, after Lana left. CURSE YOU, LOIS LANE!)
Anyway... I felt they had no character similarities... She's this bubbly nerdgoof princess hacker and he’s an emotionally detached statue with manpain. Stark contrasts to the extreme. And it just feels like oil and water. I tried to mix them. I tried to ship it. After all, they are both important ingredients in the cake mix of life (i like metaphors okay?). But they just don’t mix by themselves. (*cough, cough* Barricity was freaking effortless though *cough cough*)
But then I think the writers started listening to fans so I just took a stand and decided not to try shipping them anymore. I can’t conform. Ugh. Sorry. I think the writers started unnaturally changing them both... especially by giving them all this drama that took Felicity from being an awkward nerd cinnamon roll who over-admired Oliver’s physique to being The Only Light In His Darkness, The Only One Who Truly Understands Him, The Eternal Love of His Life. And I guess I just didn’t feel it. (Maybe if Oliver hadn’t also been in love with Laurel and Sara and Helena... and treated them all like they were sooo special. I could have bought it). I mean, I like my superheroes to have a supportive girlfriend who encourages them. But I just don’t think they are cut from the same cloth. He’s like dark green leather and she’s a cute pastel searsucker... or maybe fuzzy cupcake-print flannel. And at the point when they were becoming a couple I just couldn’t see Oliver with anyone really.
Well, I guess I hope their happy together. I want Felicity to be happy.
