Futsal Is Distinct and Challenging
Futsal is its Own Specific Sport, Defined by FIFA
Here’s what’s happening in the Huntsville/Madison area and in most of the U.S. Most players learn soccer first and futsal later, which can make learning futsal a little harder. It can even be somewhat overwhelming to some players because futsal is so much faster than soccer and is played in a much smaller space (about 20 by 35 yards), on a smooth floor, with a smaller ball, a futsal ball that rolls very fast, smaller goals, yet resulting in higher scoring games. From this perspective some players find it easier to take their soccer game indoors onto turf with a soccer ball and immediately continue playing soccer instead of futsal.
To play futsal it requires adapting to a much faster game, a smaller ball and learning a few different rules. Futsal is a separate version of football defined by FIFA and is cited as one of the fastest growing sports in the world in popularity. Some teams, when first trying to play futsal, have done well and have continued to enjoy playing futsal in subsequent seasons in the North Alabama FUTSAL League. Unfortunately a few teams have tried playing futsal and have found it too difficult for them and have returned to the easier game of soccer, the game they are used to. Moreover, sometimes players have judged futsal solely from their soccer knowledge without trying to learn and adapt to futsal.
DO YOU THINK YOU HAVE THE ADAPTABILITY, SKILLS, TALENT AND STAMINA TO PLAY THE FAST GAME OF FUTSAL?
Consider playing in the North Alabama FUTSAL League, who hosts standard futsal games per FIFA on futsal compliant futsal courts. Benefits of playing futsal in the North Alabama FUTSAL League (NAFL) include:
All players are registered - no ringers secretly added
Fully defined teams with team rosters
Written and published rules - not just in minds of proprietors
Standard rules (FIFA, USFF and USYF)
Safety rules (shin guards required, no slide tackles)
Playing surfaces lined per futsal standards
Trained/certified referees (Are there even referees at other indoor soccer venues? Or enough to adequately call games?)
Because of the above, more benefits:
Quality
Consistency (no changing rules each week)
Dependability
and Medical & Liability insurance!
Other Perks of NAFL:
Team standings kept
Division winner t-shirts
Golden boot & golden glove awards in summer seasons
Perpetual trophy of ‘Champions Division’ Winners (adults)
Tournaments with trophies & medals
Ability to play in USFF and USYF regional tournaments
Air Conditioning in summers
NAFL Experience:
NAFL has existed for 8 years and is starting its 9thwinter season.
Is playing on green turf with a bouncy soccer ball so important that you give up many other amenities? It shouldn’t be. Play futsal instead.
See flyer containing details for this winter futsal season at https://siplay-website-content-user.s3.amazonaws.com/Portal/4910/Content/Documents/Announcements_Flyers_Handouts/Announcement_to_Players-2021winter.pdf.
Why play futsal? Great soccer superstars such as Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi grew up playing futsal and credit futsal with developing their acquired skills. See their credited benefits to futsal. If you want to be a very talented soccer player then you should play futsal too.
Please share this post and/or print the flyer (winter season announcement) to share this opportunity with others.
“Been There; Done That.” Or Have You?
After eight full years of existence some attrition by players in the North Alabama FUTSAL League is inevitable, thus the phrase “been there; done that.” But most likely many former players have not “been there.” In fact, many Huntsville residents have not yet been there. Where’s there? “There” is the new, incredible Johnson Legacy Center which houses two real futsal courts among other amenities at 6000 Cecil Fain Dr., Huntsville 35810. “Real” means lined futsal courts according to FIFA specifications instead of basketball courts modified with temporary gym floor tape resulting in confusing lines. And the futsal courts are constructed on softer-than-wood, poured resin floors. Have you seen them?
* Lined futsal courts according to FIFA specifications – not modified basketball courts
* No confusion between futsal lines and basketball lines
* Softer-than-wood, poured resin floor
* 110 feet long – not just 84 or 94 feet as basketball courts are
Take a quick virtual tour here.
The City of Huntsville and Huntsville Parks & Recreation spent $7 million gutting and remodeling the large competition gym at the former Johnson High School to produce the Johnson Legacy Center, which now includes two futsal courts, three volleyball courts and more, in the following context:
* Paved, lit parking lot
* All sports inside a nice, brick building, heated & cooled
* Comfortable viewing/sitting area
* Spacious, clean bathrooms
* Separate locker rooms – no changing clothes in a car
If you haven’t been there, then go there. Take a look around. And consider playing futsal again if you haven’t played in a while. This is MUCH better than the basketball courts played on in the past.
