so imagine you're a young woman, with a god father who can make all your dreams come true. you are loved. you are cherished. he thinks you're brilliant enough to be great! and you're so excited, because he believes in you enough to invest money into your project, into your passion. not many girls your age get to have that. not many girls your age are allowed to be anything more than a daughter, a wife, and a mother. this is your big break! and it is being handed to you by a man who loves you very much, backed by a family who want to see you succeed. who believe in your talent. opportunity of a life time!
so, you take it.
you do it.
you are SO GOOD at it. you change the minds of near thousands! if not millions! you've done it! you're a film maker!!
but something is wrong. suddenly, the man on the screen and the god father who loves you are different people. then they are the same. then they are different again-- until the reel breaks free of its bolt and the image that you've captured reveals itself to be what it really is: a monster, gone unchecked. festering and rotting until it's nothing but a deep, yawning cavern of want. you don't know if it was always like that, or if somewhere along the way, it had changed, but you do know one thing.
the monster you've immortalized on screen has your godfather's face. his voice. IS your god father, the man who loves you and thinks you brilliant enough to be great. paid for your dream to come true. saw your art for what it is and what it can be. loves you. loved you?
... is using you.
is destroying your family.
is dragging everything you worked hard for in the mud.
is sick. is angry. is a duplicitous chimera-- half-man, half-monster, half-all-consuming-want.
you've captured him, but he was never supposed to be yours to tame.
imagine.
................ this all happened to my good friend, nadia hernando.
