Celebrating Independence Day with Naddy
A/n: What with today being the 250th Independence Day and 100 GFs season 3 coming out tomorrow, I thought this would be a fun way to celebrate. I'm not actually American, so I don't fully know what y'all do on Independence Day, so just chalk any mistakes up to Naddy not actually being that well-versed in American culture. I hope you all enjoy!
Hot dogs and hamburgers cooking on the barbecue, The Star-Spangled Banner playing over the radio, and the good ol' Stars and Stripes flying out on the front porch. A normal sight for the average American home on the Fourth of July...and quite the bizarre sight for anywhere else.
Having just come home to the house in its strange state, you find Naddy in the backyard, tending to her meats.
"Hey, uh, Naddy, what's all this?"
"Doggone it, don't my own pardner know what today is?"
"Let's say I don't."
"Why, it's the Fourth of July, of course!"
"...Yes, I'm aware of that. What does that have to do with all...this?"
"Y'know, the Fourth of July! The day us proud Americans gave a big ol' fakkyuu to the limeys and kicked them out on their keesters!"
"Okay, and what does that have to do with us?"
"Whaddaya mean, darlin'?"
"You...you do know we're not American, right?"
"Sure we are! We're as American as these here franks 'n' patties!"
"...Okay, I'm just going to ignore that for now. Why is the radio playing the American national anthem?"
"Hmm?"
"We're in Japan. Why is a Japanese radio station playing the national anthem of a country halfway across the world from us? How did you even manage that?"
"Anything's possible in the land of the free!"
"But this isn't Ameri-"
Naddy puts a finger to your lips.
"Hush now, hun, and sit yourself down. This feast is about ready, and I'm about ready to pig out like a born and bred citizen of the US of A!"
"...Uh huh."
You and Naddy sit down at a garden table she seemingly set up specifically for this event. You have just a couple of burgers on your plate, while your girlfriend has a mountain of meat on hers. A feast fit for a king. A feast fit for the stomach of an average Japanese woman, not so much, as evidenced by the tiny nibbles she keeps taking at her food.
"Hey, Naddy. Your food'll go cold if you keep eating so slowly. Are you sure you're going to eat all that?"
Your girlfriend starts sweating bullets, making it painfully clear you've just called her bluff.
"'C-Course I am! I just wanna save my stomach for the main event!"
"The main event? You mean this isn't it?"
"Of course it ain't! A national holiday like this ain't complete with just a simple BBQ! A grand country like ours deserve a grand celebration!"
"What did you have in mind?"
"Ah, ah, ah, I don't wanna spoil the surprise, darlin'~ Just make sure ya don't fill up too much, 'cause we'll be goin' for a light jog!"
After you've finished eating, and Naddy's eaten an entire single burger, a mere tenth of what she piled onto her plate, the two of you head out to the site of her "surprise", Ohananomitsu High School. Your girlfriend is carrying a bag with her, but she refuses to say what's inside it, which means it's no doubt another part of the surprise.
"Hey, honey. How come we're at your workplace? And...was that an alcoholic woman living in a tent I just saw?"
"Yup! She's one of my co-workers!"
"And you're...okay with that?"
"Ah, leave 'er be. She's just exercising her right to liberty, just like we're about to."
"What do you mean?"
"I asked my boss, Ms. Hanazono, and she gave me the go ahead to set off some fireworks on this here property. Said she'd even handle any trouble we might find ourselves in with the law. She told me a purdy thing like myself oughta be free to do whatever I darn well please."
"Well, I agree with that last part, at least."
Naddy beams at you and gives you a peck on the cheek.
"Thankee kindly, darlin'~"
The two of you make it to the roof of the school. Naddy reaches into her bag and starts setting up the fireworks, leaving you to "sit there and look pretty" in her own words.
She pulls out a lighter, prepared to set them off, when she gets an idea. She slides the lighter into your hand, and intertwines her fingers with yours.
"Let's do it together, hun."
"Huh?"
"This day may be one of independence, but I don't ever wanna be independent from you~"
You gaze into her eyes for a few seconds, seeing the devotion that burns within them, both for this holiday, and for you. You nod, and together, you light the fireworks, sending them flying high into the night. Naddy gives an American salute at the sight, and you follow suit, if only to make her happy.
After a few minutes of watching the show, Naddy turns towards you, the blaze of the fireworks reflected in her eyes.
"Darlin', if I may, would you grant my Independence Day wish for me?"
"Okay, I definitely know that's not a thing, but...sure."
Before you can ask what her wish is, she cuts you off with a kiss to the lips. It's soft and slow, yet also passionate, as if even her lips are full of her "'Murican" spirit. She takes her hat off and puts it on your head, wrapping her arms around your neck and pulling herself tighter around you. Just as you're about to question how she hasn't run out of breath yet, she pulls back, her smile shining brighter than any of the fireworks currently burning in the darkness above.
She takes a deep breath in, and hollers at the top of her lungs:
"God breast America!"
"I don't think that's how it go- ...Yeah, God breast America to you too, Naddy."
