They were sat in the gardens of the Red Keep not too far from where Daenerys was currently stood among a row of flowers. He had been watching her closely while in conversation with Missandei, blue eyes never leaving the queen despite the conversation at hand. He had made a small comment about how he did not belong there, how he didn’t belong still at the Queen’s side. He knew it would kick something up from the advisor, but he also had intent to expand further on what he’d actually meant. Come on, you belong here too. Words that brought reassurance-- or at least would have if it weren’t for the reason he was bringing this up. 

“I do not speak of my past faults, my dear lady,” he said it lightly while finally turning his head to look at her, “I am speaking of the wounds I received during our time at Winterfell.” His hand moved to his chest, ghosting over a spot where a blade had once entered it, “By all reasonable doubt I shouldn’t be alive. I should’ve fallen with the rest of my house that night.”

He felt old in that moment, sharing some story or far fetched tale. Much like his father when he was a boy sat beside him in the halls of their Hold. It hadn’t been his intention to sound as such, but as of late it was hard to ignore those deep wounds.. residual pain sneaking up on him when a cloud too many was in the sky. It drew some concern to the corners of his mind, tugging at him with worried thought of whether or not he would need to speak with someone regarding it. But he didn’t wish to burden Missandei with such a thing, Daenerys either. It was his pain to hold and to hide.

@naathborn​ asked : Getting to braid Daenerys' hair is an honour for Missandei , she could get lost for days within those long , silvery locks. She likes to take her time with it , combs her fingers through the Queen's hair , allowing her fingers to scrape gently across her scalp. Then she sections it off , how exactly is dependent on the type of braid , but she makes sure that they're even , the scribe allows no room for error. If conversation hasn't taken a hold of the two yet , this is when she begins to softly hum , barely audible at first. But by the time she is weaving the locks of hair together into a plait , it's grown in volume. When her work is done , her hands are placed on her friend's shoulders , giving them a little squeeze to indicate that she's finished.
