This time, Calder had a package of every single Phoebe video he had managed to find in his hands. He’d kept them for so long, rewatching and watching... He was surprised they even still worked. Calder had kept them as his own little secret for a while, slowly helping him heal every day. But now.. Now he knew Rylie needed them more then he did. Especially after everything he’d seen from the girl he had once considered like family to him. The package was signed, as always, with a few sentences, and A Friend, even though Calder didn’t even know if he could count himself as such.
As he placed the package down, yet again, at the front of Rylie’s door, he hesitated briefly, his fingers touching the square outline of it. Every single Phoebe moment... Now gone, in a way. Away from him. Maybe, if he hadn’t hesitated, or maybe if he had chosen a different time... Maybe, maybe, maybe. Maybe then the door to Rylie’s room wouldn’t have swung open, exposing Calder crouching there with the package still in his hands, and Rylie standing before him. Calder was too surprised to even say anything. He had never intended to get caught leaving these presents for Rylie, and now he had absolutely nothing to say, or didn’t even know what to do but continue crouching there, lamely. “Oh.” He let out finally, trying to save face as much as he could. Calder cleared his throat, straightening up. “Hello. I must be going now. Goodbye.” He turned on his heel, ready to run, if he had to.
