Mya’s claw loss, effects and current ‘replacement’ headcanon:

Losing all the claws on her fingers thanks to Rilvas had a significant effect on Mya’Dar both physically and mentally, even though she tries to hide it. Not only was the act of losing them itself a horrific moment but the time spent with the healer was just as awful. To heal the wounds more flesh had to be cut away on her fingertips and skin grafts had to be taken from her palms to cover the exposed bone. It was a slow, painful process with a novice healer who had little experience with vampiric healing and due to that, now even several months later the sensation in her fingertips and palms are still off, which is very disconcerting. 

Even with the healing mostly done and her dexterity improving, it was very mentally exhausting to have people constantly pointing out the ‘weird clawless khajiit’ and no longer having claws as a back-up weapon while still dealing with memories of what happened. It triggered a bout of depression with her refusing to leave the house and eventually she was given an anonymous gift of crafted metal claws.

The most intricate of replacements is made of Dwarven metal and is both practical and attractive, fitting in with jewellery that Mya wears. The weight of the capped metal on her fingers makes her feel little better when wielding weapons and the sharp point of the metal manages to cut better than her claws ever did. She’s actually received a few compliments on the pieces from people who think they’re worn purely for aesthetic reasons.

She was a little surprised to feel her father’s hand brushing aside her hair to trace the scar just above her eye. Mya’Dar barely noticed it these days, there was so many worse scars for her to feel concerned about, one tiny jagged one seemed like nothing.
