in which princess allura of altea goes to the fair
(because look me in the eye and tell me allura would not have an absolute blast at this kind of event)
she steps onto those fairgrounds, get her admission ticket and her hand stamped, and immediately resolves to go on all the rides. all of them. wheeeeeeeeee!
teacups? yes. salt and pepper shaker? double yes. heck, she’ll even have a spin on that little kiddie ride shaped like a dragon
“LOOK, CORAN! NO HANDS!”
(shiro voice) “princess for the love of god please hold onto something”
hunk covers his ears and flees to the other end of the fairgrounds as a form of self-care
coran is a proud father figure :’)
allura has so much presence that she’s constantly mistaken for a performer, and gets picked as the audience volunteer for a gazillion things. many children go home that day clutching allura’s autograph in their sticky little cotton candy hands
those small children absolutely love allura’s hair (as do adults, honestly). she’s styled it in bouncy poofs for the day
mister ferris wheel operator can’t quite recall how this ethereal young lady convinced him to allow four mice on the ride with her but, uh, excuse me miss– oh god he can’t say no to that face
“what’s that noise?” “hm? oh those are the toy trumpets they give to kids as prizes. man, i remember bugging the heck out of my siblings with–” “i want one”
allura is so good at all the games she always gets the bigger prizes but she wants that tiny plastic trumpet, damn it
she trades lance a giant blue plushie for one
allura expresses gratitude and wonder to every fair employee in her path. especially the garbage collectors. they deserve credit
she finds keith and pidge munching fried food, hiding from crowd sensory hell on the roof of the fair hall
security isn’t pleased, but listen. they’re not really breaking rules. they’re keeping watch! like good, sensible paladins of voltron!
allura swipes a french fry as payment for diplomat-ing them out of trouble
our girl loves sparkly things. the fairgrounds all lit up at night? miraculous. awe-inspiring. she starts to glow and shimmer with her magic adding to the show without even realizing
