One of the senior living places whose waitlist I got on last year phoned me Thursday and asked me to come in for an interview, so today I'm driving from Omaha to the Chicago area to make my interview scheduled Monday afternoon. I expect to drive back Tuesday. It's an eight- or ten- hour drive one way, which I'm prepared to have play havoc with my usual scrolling routine. Friday and Saturday, instead of just reblogging everything, I scheduled some of my reblogs for today; and Monday I'll schedule some for Tuesday. And of course The Hero of Three Faces will still update (though perhaps from the buffer buffer, on which a three day run won't run it dry) and the usual 11:00 and 22:00 link posts here are expected to go up, though the 11:00 ones might not get pinned promptly.

After failing to get myself moved closer to my stepkids last year, I had resigned myself to waiting on waitlists for a year or five. The idea that now it might finally all get resolved within the next thirty or sixty days is unexpected.

These guys from Bell Canada wasted over an hr of my time yesterday to not even submit my supposed internet installation request for the 10th that I blogged about yesterday. If it weren't for my awesome new roomie setting up a better installation date with videotron (for tomorrow afternoon) we would have had a terrible surprise on the 10th when no one showed up to set up our internet. Omg I'm honestly so pissed and it's hard to piss me off.

So I rolled into Oak Park about 19:30, for a week of working with my stepdaughter to find me an apartment close to them, not knowing I had reserved a room in a bed&breakfast and not a hotel

First pf a;; yje I hate my laptop keyboard of all they'd sent me an email with check-in information which either had gone to spam or which I'd deleted for failure to recognize it because it came from the BnB management company whose name had not appeared in any of the documentation I'd received before

Then the map for the place at Expedia was confusing because it was pimping a museum around the corner and I thought that was where I was staying

Then when I finally had the correct address I couldn't find it till I phoned the contact person who texted me a map

This was when I realized that I wasn't staying in a place with a front desk to check in. I was at the front door of my room and I didn't know how to get in it.

Meanwhile I'm trying to navigate all this on my phone which I don't ordinarily go on the internet with. So I go to my stepdaughter's and son-in-law's place to put my laptop on their wifi and then, fInAlLy, I notice the paragraph in the email message that tells me the last four digits of my phone number are what to put into the code reader on the door.

Also in Oak Park you have to arrange for street parking every night. And pay for it.

I didn't stop for lunch on the drive and we went out to eat about 22:00

I'm ringing with the bell choir at church this morning for what will be the last time. At the last rehearsal I announced that I'm expecting to move before the year's out. Mom passed away May 2024, so I want to be closer to my kids so I don't have happen to me whatever would have happened to Mom if I hadn't been here. I meant to relax with it a few years but with the insecurity now in the future of Social Security I wanna go while I have the savings to cover it. So this should be the last time I have my daily routine disrupted by having to be out the door at 09:15 when usually I don't go anywhere before 13:00 or 14:00
