Our only survivor from the last flock has been recovering well. Oak is back in the coop and has been slowly exploring outside with supervision.
So we had one chicken actually survive!! So we found out about the dogs who attacked and killed our flock and it’s an issue been dealt with, reparations made accordingly.
Oak was in pretty rough shape but is still alive and we were able to get her some help and she is healing well. Keeping her in our garage until the weather gets a bit warmer and I’ve made the repairs to the coop, I’ve plans to build a big run/cage as extra security around the coop and will reinforce that with another layer of hardware cloth if need be.
In the mean time, my wife couldn’t help herself and ended up with more chicks
This time I’m in charge of the names… so here we’ve got Teriyaki, Honey BBQ, Alfredo, and Dijon 🤣🤣😂😂 she plans on getting a couple more breeds that I am gonna name Sweet & Sour and Sriracha (whether she likes it or not) 😆
No one ever tells you that you eventually get attached to them… never in a million years did I ever think I’d be a chicken lady 😂😅 my wife is absolutely crazy about them and I indulge her, but damn, you do get attached to them…
Rest in peace, Maple, Sequoia, Cedar, and Willow. I’m sure your sister Oak will take good care of this next gen of brood.
