tired of people saying shelter dogs are "unpredictable" and that the "average person cannot handle one." there are plenty of completely chill dogs at the shelter. i got a beagle when i was twelve, her only "flaws" were that she got in the garbage and liked to run away. good luck finding ANY beagle who doesn't do that. adopted a lurcher (sighthound mix) a year ago and the only "flaws" she has is bad teeth and she's a little scared of things. she's become more confident since we've had her. she doesn't want to eat the cats. she doesn't want to bite the kids. i can leave her unsupervised with food and she's not gonna take it. her recall is good enough to be off leash were i the type of person who did that. it's not hard to find a "good" dog at a shelter. you're just making excuses not to adopt.
