Collaborative Sound Hack at CTM Berlin 2014
2014 started off in an interesting, adventurous way in Berlin - that is, the CTM Festival For Adventurous Music and Art made way for inspirations all around new music, technology and collaborations.
We had the privilege of meeting artist & cultural producer Darsha Hewitt - co-facilitator of MusicMakers Hacklab. See this video where we interview Darsha during her work in CTM Berlin.
Among the participants of the 2014 edition of MusicMakers Hacklab at CTM Festival in Berlin was Leslie Garcia. Originally from Tijuana, she lives in Mexico City and works around the globe in projects and collaborations where Pure Data/Arduino/Music/Electronics-savvy Leslie is needed. Here is an interview we made with her while she was working at MusicMakers Hacklab. There, she met the artist Stefano Testa and, together, they developed a quirky musical project throughout the one-week collaborative hacklab.
Leslie Garcia & Stefano Testa performed their final work for MusicMakers Hacklab at HAU2 for the closing of the 2014 CTM Festival. Here is a video of their performance with: "Symphony for Small Machine".
Besides being co-facilitator along with Peter Kirn at this years MusicMakers Hacklab, Darsha Hewitt also was a participant and created some neat objects that make a big sound. Her work, Square Wave Pistols, was also shown at CTM's closing presentation at HAU2. Here is a little taste of what it sounded like:
Here is a closer look at some of the gadgets / instruments you just heard:
