During the process of making my re-cover, I came across some obstacles regarding to the bridge of the song. In the original, they use a flute synth and I tried to recreate that sound as close as I could because I thought it gave the song a dreamlike effect to balance out with the harsh effects on the vocals. I struggled with this as I couldn’t mimic the sound to how I wanted on a synth, so I instead used my voice and I like how it turned out as it adds a balance to the male vocals and is identifiable as a female voice. To record I only used a Shure SM57 microphone for both my vocals and ukulele. In the original, there was no ukuele but I decided to add it into the bridge as I felt it gave it more edge and high notes (can be heard at 1:08-1:29 in my re-cover). Overall, I believe that my addition to the song made it sound tranquil and to what I wanted but if I could change something it would be the microphone I used to record my vocals (I used the SM57 because it was what I had at the time) and make the ukuele quieter + more effects as I believe it is too loud and I only used one reverb plugin on it. 

Recreating the riffs and beats used in wasn’t that easy, as Stewart originally used an analog synthesiser and the sounds were very unique and iconic, however Isaac managed to get them to sound as similar as he could. The audio above is one of the constant riff’s used throughout the song, and a standing point to the song’s history as it is so memorable and distinctive. 

We had a lot of trouble getting the vocals to sound as close to Lennox’s original as her voice is unique and some parts of the verses are much more fitting to Lennox’s voice. However, I thought did a very good at recreating them and getting them to sound similar but not exact copies. There was a trouble interpreting Lennox’s adlibs as they were usually accompanied by others and the synths which made it hard to point out what they sounded like exactly, but I did a good job on getting them similar, as well as the harmonising vocals.
