He had always seen himself as her protector. She was a weapon, sure. One that he had taken care of. One that he had seen as not just an extension of himself. But, the only thing that had been alive that he would consider, no, call, his family. She was a part of him. But as she started to fall he could feel a phantom of the pain she was in, hit his body. The feeling that struck him was new. Not like the rage the time Ichigo had dared to compare him to becoming human. Charging toward the female spirit he reached out to grab her in his arms. He would not let her fall so carelessly to the ground, as if he did not care about her. Because in truth, she had been one of the few things he could bring himself to care about. Not until this moment had he known just how much and strongly he had cared about the spirit. His arms wrapping around her as she tried to speak. Most of the time he could not feel as humans had. But in that moment, he knew he was feeling just as human as he once had in a life long before this new one.
His jaw clenched, he could feel his power leaving him as she had grown weaker. Though in it's place a rage and sense of loss was filling into him, that emptiness that was always present was beginning to be taken over by these new feelings. His mouth becoming tight as his anger grew "No, Murci-I should have protected you." The Arrancar managed, his tone still gentle, but with a slight hint of spine chilling anger coiling around his gentle words. As her hand reached out toward him, he gripped onto hers, tightly holding it. He didn't want her to go, he didn't want to be completely alone again. Not even for a short moment. His head tilting down a little, hair falling over his face, shadowing his eyes, Ulquiorra's teeth bared slightly, gnawing a bit in his building rage toward the creature who dared to do this to his Murciélago. It would be something he couldn't forgive. A slight he wouldn't ignore, as much as he was prone to giving chance after chance. For the person attacking them, who hurt her, he would not give them that second chance.
“ I know, Murciélago. You have been my only true friend, and family. I wasted all my time, never seeing that in you. Now...it's too late to-please, stay...just a little while longer. Please." As her tear hit his wrist and slipped around, off onto the dirt below, and her hand lost it's grip on his, Ulquiorra felt warm streams of liquid spilling down his own usually expressionless face. Gently he cupped her face in his right hand before she began fading in his arms. Once she was entirely gone, he brought his arms in closer to his chest, crossing them. The emptiness in his chest now filled with the unfamiliar pain of losing the one thing you loved most. He didn’t realize it until that moment, that he had truly only loved her. Her loss was the heaviest thing he had ever felt. Though without her, he had to flee. Placing his hand on the hilt of his now damaged katana, gripping his hand around it “ I will bring you back. As long as you are right here. I can bring you back.” Ulquiorra promises before he summons a garganta and retreats from his opponents into it.
