Waiting in a parking lot with one of those Palantir surveillance stations (if you’re not in the US you may not know that the federal government has started placing white 20ft tripods with cameras and blue flashing lights in public places) and it just announced “FOR YOUR SAFETY, THIS AREA IS BEING RECORDED.” How did anyone look at this system and say “yeah this is an acceptable way to run a country, we like this direction”

I’m really gonna need whoever is writing the current political farce to chill with the symbolism. It’s not enough that his name means Fart in most English-speaking countries and he got attacked by an eagle; now after he campaigned on the slogan “drain the swamp”, his incompetence and corruption have literally caused a toxic swamp to appear in the middle of DC

Hey given some of the ways we Americans are starting to realize how stupid our system is, I want to ask: do other countries' local, state, and federal electoral district map boundaries also not overlap? I just found out there's an election next week for one state senate district and one House of Representatives district and my state only offers a single map that includes all the district maps at the same time with no labels on the roads to help you find your address and I just realized this is so stupid I wonder if countries with functioning democracies have to deal with this
