Turns out it was another trope!
The evil twin super look-alike long lost brother trope!
Meet Munehiro.
He is Kiyohiro’s Iga assassin older brother, who in this ES is sent to poison Ieyasu. MC mistook him in town for Kiyohiro, but realised after she calls him that he’s not Kiyohiro because his hair is short and ‘when he’s talking, his face is very animated, definitely not Kiyohiro-san, who always has a straight face.” lol lol lol
I dig this character design, his expression is cheeky. When I first saw him I thought I DIG THIS MAKEOVER/DISGUISE but HEY HIS MOLE IS ON THE WRONG SIDE, DRATS! this one is literally tweaked from Kiyohiro’s mirror image. They are more of a twin set than Sakuya and Genya.
I want to be okay with this but really? Mirror tweak? Lazy or not? hm hm hm. either way I hope Kiyohiro’s backstory makes sense and PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD EXPLAIN THAT HATTORI HANZO complication - does Munehiro also uses the hattori alias? AND WHERE IS MASANARI IN THIS STORY???
