It wasn't the first time he'd woken up disoriented with no idea where he was or what was happening around him. It was the first time, at least in a long time, that he'd woken up in comfort. The crook in his neck that came from using his steering wheel as a pillow wasn't present. To him it was a sign that something was wrong, at least that's what his instincts told him.
His eyes were slow to open as he flexed his fingers. He was definitely laying on something soft, but it was clear to him that it wasn't a bed. In fact, despite the softness, there was a feeling of itchiness that he didn't quite understand until after he forced himself to sit up.
The canopy of trees told him that he was outside and the setting of the sun told him that it would be getting dark soon. He had no idea what the heck was going on or why he was out in what was mostly a forest when he had something he needed to do...he just couldn't remember what that something important was. 'Where...?'
His eyes scanned the immediate area before he stood to his feet and began to dust himself off - red jacket soon after being pulled tighter around himself. He chose a direction and simply began to walk as the need to get out of the woods and back to civilization gradually became stronger. If it was going to get dark soon then he would need to find his way out quickly as he had nothing on hand to protect him from whatever wild life would happen across him. If he could find his car...which raised the question, why had he left his car in the first place? Had he been jumped and his car stolen? No, couldn't be. Again he felt fine so...did he ditch his car again for some reason? Probably. Why was he in the woods, and why did he feel like he was forgetting something very important?
