#multi: fallout

a variety of things from last night! not pictured: my panicked interactions with another player

first, jack actually out in the world and looking gr8.

second row: i’m debating whether i want to keep him clean shaven or give him his dumb goatee since he’s looking pretty young 🤔

third, when i first started, he spawned with facial hair for some reason? it wasn’t there inside the vault, but it appeared after i stepped outside and it just did not want to go away. i am confused yet also amused and i feel like he should be wearing a cowboy hat. and finally, unrelated to jack: you can buy succulents for your c.a.m.p. and I Am Tempted.

i was talking about this earlier at work today with a coworker, but they could’ve put out an announcement saying the number of pre-orders exceeded expectations, and due to cost, the canvas bag will be replaced with a less expensive alternative. would this have still pissed people off? oh yes. but it would’ve covered their asses.

then they could have added a code for in-game credit to the CE for compensation which still would’ve been a cheap move but that would’ve been better than offering the equivalent of $5 after a mass outcry like this.

i’m enjoying the hell out of fallout 76

which is completely unsurprising tbh given how i’ve typically played fallout since moving to pc. i focus mainly on exploration and screenshots as opposed to main story and combat, and 76 has been perfect for that.

like, last night i spent an hour trying to complete this treetop obstacle course just north of the new river gorge resort. i ended up giving up at the last obstacle because i didn’t want to waste too many stimpaks but it was fun.

this is why i prefer experiencing new things for myself instead of listening to other people’s comments. i would have missed out on something i’m really enjoying. (the same could be said for borderlands; it’s one of my favorite series and i very nearly missed out on that for the same reason — albeit to a much smaller scale of complaints lol)

so above we have:

row 1: a random screenshot that just looked nice imo. wish i could have my settings up higher but i need to upgrade my graphics card first. (texture’s on high, though. can’t take that away from me, todd.)

row 2: the first couple obstacles. the bridge was obviously not difficult lol but the platforms caught me a couple times initially :T

row 3: the last couple obstacles. it took me a number of tries to make it across those hanging logs. kept falling on the fourth jump. meanwhile, on the last obstacle i made it as far as the first post before rage quitting. it’s doable, but maaaan i was getting too frustrated to go on.
