For all our great customers who have previously purchased from Drumdrops we have dropped in a new free track into your account. We have added one free track from the new Drumdrops jazz album - ‘It’s A Jazz Thing’. The free track is based on Gene Krupa’s "Sing Sing Sing".

Benny Goodman's 1937 recording features Gene Krupa's pulsating tom-tom groove with alternating swinging open hi-hat passages with a snare backbeat. The opening floor Tom jungle pattern features short interspersed splash cymbal markers and flurried Tom Tom fills.

The track is available to download as a multi-track, stem pack,  loops pack and practice track. So head on to your account and go grab it now...

Multitrack Love lets you listen to a handful of songs including Nirvana's Smells Like Teen Spirit and REM's Losing My Religion and separate out the bass / drums / guitars / vocals.

How is this witchcraft possible? For games like Guitar Hero to work, multi-tracks that previously would only be in the hands of the musicians have been published as part of the game data, these are then ripped onto the internet as 'stems' or 'moggs'.

It's eternally fascinating to see how the songs you love are constructed and it's only a matter of time before record companies cotton on and start selling multi-tracks to the consumer, so that you can buy the same material for the 4th or 5th time.

In this new video on the Drumdrops YouTube channel, drummer Steve Sidelnyk (Madonna, Dido, Primal Scream, Annie Lennox, Seal) discusses recording the new Drumdrops album, Now That's What I Call Drums, an album of classic 80s drum tracks. The album was recorded on a DW Collectors Series Drum kit at  Miloco Sofa Sound Studios by Producer / Engineer Chris Potter. Also being released is a sample pack of the DW kit, which was supplied by our friends at Drumhire.

Drumdrops engineer Ben Thackeray has added to our Digital Tips and Advice section on drumdrops.com/tips/digital.html by writing this useful guide on importing multitracks and tempo maps into Logic...

Firstly, open the Logic application. Do NOT start a new session or open an existing session. Click 'Open' from under the file menu and select the MIDI tempo map that you have downloaded from the Drumdrops website.

Then, open the MIDI tempo map file. This will create a new Logic session for you with the tempo changes in it. If you wish to check that the tempo changes have been imported then click on 'Lists' in the top right hand corner and the 'Tempo' in the submenu. The tempo changes will be displayed in the this list.

Next, drag in the audio files that you have downloaded into the main Logic window. Make sure that they are lined up at bar one. The files and the tempo changes will only be in sync if the files are starting at bar one.

Save your session and you are good to go!
