Multi Technical Machine 01 was a new sort of card. While technically also a Pokemon Tool, a Technical Machine provided a new attack to the Pokemon it was attached to but was discarded at the end of the turn. The attack here was Paralyzing Gaze, which needed a Colorless Energy to guarantee Paralysis on the Defending Pokemon. This could work to buy an extra turn if the opponent didn't have a way to switch, and there was some theoretical use for slower decks to get extra time. People didn't really tend to use it, though, since that's all it did and it didn't help make progress in almost any situation. That being said, the era, especially the Neo-On format, was relatively unexplored, so there's a chance that something this different would have a use people never found.
