How to Eat Healthy in College
Looks like @FatherMarquette enjoys his farmers market veggies
So you’ve found yourself with an unlimited meal plan, for those that don’t know that means you have been granted 10,000 meal swipes for the year. That’s a lot! And with that many meal swipes you can be persuaded to eat more that 2 hot cookies per sitting, and indulge in Cobeen’s Mac n’ Cheese and Chicken Nuggets on Saturdays.Â
Thankfully, you can eat healthy too. That way, you won’t feel guilty when you decide to go for that second hot cookie or that extra serving of chicken nuggets.Â
Here’s the lowdown on how to eat healthy at Marquette and in the surrounding Milwaukee area:

The Dining Halls Offer Healthy Alternatives
All five dining halls on campus offer nutritional information on site and online. That means you have access to all things nutrition wherever you are on campus. Each dining hall has vegan/vegetarian options, and caters to those who are gluten free.Â
Sodexo just launched a new program within the dining halls to focus on wellness by eating the right foods. “Mindful” options can be found in all dining halls.

Milwaukee's Healthy Dining And Grocery Options
Beans and Barley: Full of goodness, healthy foods, and fun grocery options, this grocery store and restaurant on the east side is well worth the bus ride.
Whole Foods:Â Located across the street from Beans and Barley, this store not only serves as a grocery store, but serves the community with healthy dining options, organic clothing, and organic coffee and tea.
Milwaukee Public Market: The Milwaukee Public Market is located in the Third Ward, just one short mile away from campus.  On a beautiful day the walk is worth it, but when winter comes, have no fear, the Milwaukee County Transit System is here. You can find veggies and fruits, fresh flowers and even stop by the “Green Kitchen” for a fresh squeezed juice. Check this place out, it’s most definitely one of Milwaukee’s prized possessions.Â
There you have it, you can enjoy Marquette and Milwaukee all while eating healthy.  But don’t worry it’s ok to indulge every once and a while too. For more info on the dining halls, here are some tips!
