josh or i really need to talk to someone about ghosts of christmas always

i went to dinner with my parents and a couple of their friends. it was the first time that has happened in my entire adult life. i think i was a good dinner companion. i yes-and-tell-me-mored their stories and laughed at the points where tone, demeanor, and traditional narrative structures indicated i should. when it was my turn, i told the most normal anecdote about my recent life that i could, and i pretended that i thought it was a compliment when they said, that is so interesting. i ate crawfish étouffée 

i think of the hallmark christmas movies as episodes in a twilight zone type anthology series. sometimes the moment of departure from our shared reality is explicitly depicted. sometimes we start already immersed in an altered reality. ghosts of christmas always handles this transition in an interesting way. it also does some world building that feels like a foundation for future episodes, but that isn't the way this show usually works
