Why, just why? Ratchet had no plans of adopting a human but of course, Drift ‘surprise’ adopted one. Before boarding the Lost Light, Drift had seen you and your previous owner, it was obvious that your owner didn’t really care about you and the mistreatment angered Drift to the point that he rescued you from your owner by reporting him and having you removed from his custody

The situation had been jarring for you and it was clear you had a lot of distrust towards Drift’s kind due to your previous owner’s treatment towards you. Drift worried about what treatment your previous owner gave you since your blatant distrust and fear seemed to suggest that you suffered some kind of abuse and not just neglect. Although, he was happy that you weren’t forced into one of the underground illegal human fighting rings (basically the Cybertronian equivalent of dog fighting) or forced to breed for profit

Drift could tell by your aura that you were just scared and being defensive. After being given to him, he wanted to take his time getting you comfortable with his presence but he was extremely worried about your health and decided to bring you with him and get you to Ratchet as soon as possible. After the initial blowup after launching, collecting the lost members, and the sparkeater incident, once everything had calmed down, Drift brought you to the medbay

Ratchet’s not a vet, he doesn’t know anything about organic medicine, but if it eases Drift’s spark then he’ll take a look at you. Ratchet could clearly see how shaken and afraid of them you were and even though he knew you couldn’t understand them and they couldn’t understand you, Ratchet still went into full doctor mode and coaxed and soothed you the same way he would with a bitlet or sparkling

Ratchet praised you for sitting still and for each time he was able to touch you and look you over. You might not have been able to understand him, but something about him and the noises he was making was just so soothing. Ratchet even went as far to use him EM field to soothe you and it worked. For once, you finally felt safe and at ease

Your health was deplorable in Ratchet’s opinion. Unhealthy weight, dehydration, lack of proper nutrition, lack of sleep, improper hygiene that resulted in you being sick with a high temperature, amongst a myriad of other things. While Ratchet is no activist or human lover, he was immensely upset by the condition you were in when Drift rescued you from your previous owner. If Drift hadn’t rescued you, Ratchet knows your lifespan would’ve been vastly shortened by the inadequate care you received

You’re like the cat the girlfriend brings home that the boyfriend didn’t want but the boyfriend ends up loving you anyway. But with the cat also preferring the boyfriend over the girlfriend. Drift was initially saddened somewhat by your fear of him but complete trust of Ratchet. Ratchet had to console Drift and convince him not to take it personally

Ratchet saw how weak your body was after your initial checkup and knew that with your currently ill state, that you needed a bath so he brought you to the washracks and bathed you, making sure to clean every inch of your body but while also being gentle. After bathing you and drying you off, Ratchet changed your coverings, making sure to give you a small meal and some water before tucking you into some soft cloth so you could rest. After getting you over your cold, Ratchet gave Drift directions on how to care for you in your weakened state

Drift was the one who took care of you the most since Ratchet was often busy, this gave Drift plenty of bonding time with you. During this time, you grew accustomed to his presence and began to trust him, enough to where you would fall asleep on him

Drift absolutely adores you and made sure to set up more than adequate facilities for you. You don’t have a nest, you have the plush equivalent of a human dog bed. You have tons of blankets and enrichment toys that Drift spoils you with

Ratchet won’t admit but he does enjoy watching you take apart the puzzle toys he made that he hides treats in for you. He’ll make sure you see him put a high value treat, like some kind of sweet thing, in the puzzle toy and then he’ll put it back, showing you how to unlock it before giving it to you. He was worried he made them too complicated but he was surprised when it only took you about thirty minutes to open it and successfully retrieve the treat

Drift was originally concerned about letting you wash yourself since he was afraid you would drown yourself accidentally. The first few times you bathed, Drift or Ratchet would be the ones to bathe you, not really believing you were capable of doing so on your own, at least, not an adequate job

Ratchet started doing research and downloading any medical information on humans and organics. Every time they visit an organic planet he acquires what medical knowledge and information they have, they might not be the same species as you, but a better understanding of organics can’t hurt

Ratchet, First Aid and Ambulon have made some medical equipment for the humans such as defibrillators, stomach pumps and ventilators. Anything they can use to keep a human alive until they could hopefully get the human proper care

Drift and Ratchet take turns with you. If Ratchet is swamped with work in the Medbay, then Drift will take you with him for the cycle, sometimes you go with Ratchet on the slower days but if work picks up, Drift will come and get you even if you’re reluctant to leave Ratchet

Drift often takes you to ‘Roddy’s Human Park’ and watches you exercise and explore the different equipment. Ratchet has asked Drift to help him take note of your activity each day. Drift loves watching you climb the equipment and cheers you on whenever you climb to the top of them. He’s like one of those parents with a toddler who praises their kid every time they go down a slide

Drift also tends to see or read too much into your actions. Say for example, you sneeze or cough, he might think you’re dying and will bring you straight to medbay. If you get lost in thought and unintentionally stare at something for too long, Drift will believe you’re seeing or sensing something he can’t. (Kinda like how dogs supposedly can see ghosts) if you decide to be lazy and just relax all day, he’s more likely to either relax himself, or think you’re lethargic and are getting sick. Ratchet loves Drift and how much he cares, but not everything you do is a sign that you’re unwell

If you’re female and have periods, Ratchet is definitely one of the best Bots for this. When he discovers the human reproductive cycle and how painful the female human reproductive cycle can be, he was horrified and even more so when he learned about endometriosis. Ratchet tracks your period so he can prepare for it and know when it should start. Since you can’t quite communicate your pain level, Ratchet takes precautions because he and Drift don’t want you to be in pain in the event that you are one who suffers endometriosis

He created human safe painkillers both for severe injuries like broken bones as well as for your period. The only issue, they’re really strong. So whenever your period hits, he gives you the painkillers so you’re not in pain, but you are kinda loopy. Instead of having a moody and in pain human, they get a delightfully semi-delirious human that has trouble standing up straight. Basically, you’re high

Which is why they take turns looking after you, helping you get to the bathroom, helping you clean yourself and change what are basically period underwear, helping you bathe since you’re not only clumsy now but not entirely in your right mind, Drift makes sure you’re comfortable in your little human bed and makes sure you get plenty of rest

Ratchet makes sure you have proper nutritional food that he has made for all the humans on the Lost Light. If you require a specialized diet due to allergies or intolerances then he makes sure your food is safe to eat. He makes sure that you don’t overeat and actually logs how much you eat at each meal so that he can keep an average of how much you eat. Since you can’t directly tell him if something is wrong, he uses things like food intake to gauge how you’re feeling. Similar to how humans use eating signs to tell if an animal might be sick

While Ratchet doesn’t quite fully subscribe to the belief that humans are sentient like they are, he does know that humans are incredibly intelligent. (He really just doesn’t want to believe that his people are treating sentient beings as pets). Ratchet might let you help out in the medbay when there are injuries in little nooks and crannies that he can’t reach. Or if there is little bits of debris that needs to be cleared

Ratchet has seen how incredibly helpful you are in the medbay and knows that you absolutely adore being praised, even if you don’t understand what he says, he can convey praise through his tone of voice and gestures such as smiling, and gently patting or rubbing your head. He’ll never admit how cute he thinks you are when you soak up his affection

While Ratchet had no intention of having any sort of sexual interactions with you, Drift however was a different story. Since Drift is often with Rodimus and Rodimus always has his human with him, you’ve gotten to learn a lot of things from Rodimus’ human, including the fact that you can have mind blowing sex with Cybertronians. While Rodimus did try to encourage Drift to interface with you, Drift was skeptical of your ability to consent

That was until you literally pried open his modesty panels to access his spike. He tried to keep you away but nothing was going to stop you, you were far too frustrated to let him stop you and you even went as far as to draw him crude pictures of him fragging you on his datapad to get your message across. With all the drawings of you smiling while being fragged and all the drawings of you being sad when pushed away, Drift kinda got the message. (And now he truly does believe you are sentient)

So when Ratchet returned to their habsuite to find a mass-displaced Drift on top of you with his spike all the way inside you, Ratchet had to restrain himself from smacking both of you and instead resorted to scolding Drift. Ratchet was deeply concerned on the ethics of interfacing with a being that cannot consent until Drift showed him your drawings. Drift pointed at your drawing of you and him fragging and nodded, then pointed at the drawing of you being sad from being pushed away and shook his head. He then pointed at the fragging drawing again and then pointed at Ratchet, it took a moment but you then drew another crude drawing of Ratchet and Drift fragging you with a smile on your face

It took a massive amount of convincing both from Drift and other Bots who truly believed in the sentience of humans (not Rung) like Perceptor (a bot that Ratchet has some respect for his opinions) for Ratchet to finally agree to try having intimate relations with you. And boy does Ratchet regret taking so long

The way you feel around him is like nothing that mechanical beings can replicate. While your soft and squishy body had at first been unappealing to Ratchet, when you’re snuggling against his neck cabling, nuzzling his cheek plating, he sees the appeal of having something soft to hold, especially when you’re underneath him, writhing in pleasure from his spike

• “Sire,” your son groans. Smiling and biting your lip as your son clears his vents and leans on the counter to drag a servo through the empty mixing bowl before popping it in his mouth. Handing over the spoon you’d used to scrape out the mix into molds to set, you hear Ratchet rumbling. ‘Don’t walk away when we’re having a discussion,’ your conjunx growls and your son shoots you a beseeching look as he scrapes the bowl clean with a spoon. “It’s not a conversation if you won’t even listen to me,” he mutters and Ratchet scowls. ‘What was that?’ Your conjunx growls.

Drift x Reader

• At some point the two of you had fallen asleep. Or whatever passes for sleep with him. You wake up to find yourself curled on your side, knees drawn up because his legs are bent slightly behind your own as he spoons you, an arm tossed across you. And it’s embarrassingly intimate with him draped against your back, making you very aware of him. Of his big hand gripping yours, the heat of his frame. But it feels right. Like this is where you’re supposed to be. You wonder if it’s the bond. If you’ll be able to trust how you feel about him at all or if it’ll be influenced by that partial bond.
