This part of the state is full of lovely waterfalls.

We did find a nice campsite among the hemlocks & rhododendron. Everything got wet - many things I counted on to be waterproof weren’t - and it rained for a solid 17 hours before subsiding into mist and fog. I was pretty reluctant to get out of my tent in the morning, and I’ll admit I cooked breakfast in the vestibule, but I had this nice view while I waited on the weather.

The second day, we followed the ridge and hit some summits. My good good hiking buddy thought it was all a breeze.

Ah, it’s here, under the dog.

Being perceived as a dog-obsessed weirdo at the highest point east of the Rockies: Very successful.

Selfie-with-dog attempts: One or both of us is either not looking at the camera, or making a weird face. Every time.

And my good dog by my side as we ate our lunch on high.
