Another Nekoma-in-yukata fanart based (inspired by) on the recent chapter of the Haikyuu!! Manager!AU fanfic series, “Managing the Cat’s Den” by @edensxgarden

Ahhh finally finished Yakkun (even if slightly behind schedule imo)~ He is kinda difficult to sketch because... fuck anime hair even though his’s so soft and floofy qwq; this is actually my second try—the first one being...

...yeah, threw the wanage scene sketch draft onto the bin gdi. Instead I used another scene from the said chapter wherein Mane-chan examined the group—sans KuroKen—in awe and gushed over their different yukatas.

She has a few ocs based on the story (though only one is involved in the fic itself) and I felt like sketching the Katou fam that stole my heart so

Yep, drew a ponytailed-Kenma-in-yukata fanart again—‘cause not satisfied with the first one tbh—but with a different pose, based/inspired on a part of the summer festival chapter of @edensxgarden-sensei’s Haikyuu!! Manager!AU fanfic series, “Managing the Cat’s Den”.

Like, seriously, that chapter alone has so many good scenes and moments perfect to draw on (that’s why there’re currently—including this one and the next—six individual fanarts).

While reading @edensxgarden-sensei’s “Managing the Cat’s Den” summer festival chapter (please do check out her fanfic series, it’s 👍🏻👍🏻⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️)—particularly at the scene in Mane-chan’s apartment—I tried to imagine what Fukunaga will looked and felt(?) like when he saw Name-chan in her lovely red yukata.

Then that wink lol ah gdi my heart surely will go on ballistic even if this is a manager!au fanfic with a platonic setup (● ˃̶͈̀ロ˂̶͈́)੭ꠥ⁾⁾

I drew one of Nekoma High Men’s Volleyball Club’s amazing liberos, Shibayama Yuki, in a baby blue yukata—as was described here in this chapter, from @edensxgarden’s Haikyuu!! Manager!AU series, “Managing the Cat’s Den”.

Ah, btw, the character ‘芝’ on Shibayama’s fan is the first kanji on his surname (via the Haikyuu!! Fandom Wikia page):

...so, yeah. I had problems while doing this yesterday. One is this; the other, I tried to finish this one until around 2:30-ish am (Philippine Standard Time)... but every now and then I started to doze off a bit—even drooled my shirt while my head droop—and then I accidentally deleted the whole motherfucking (sorry for the language) finished layer and exited to the gallery, where I cannot undo it qwq *deep breath* I panicked at those times istg

Luckily I had saved some backups—I always save one before putting on a background, like the one above^—such as this:

Anyways, as for the speed paint, might upload it on another post sometime soon—IT’S KIND OF A MESS TBH. qwq sorry

Started rereading @edensxgarden-sensei’s “Managing the Cat’s Den” on AO3 earlier this morning... and can’t help but to imagine that particular scene between Manager-chan and Kenma at the back of the cafeteria(? Or so I thought it is based on Chapter 3’s setting), with her slowly dozing off on his shoulder, a black kitty on both her arms... *swooooooooons*

That’s why I made a kinda rough(?) pencil sketch of the scene:

Tbh, I was so nervous to draw another Haikyuu fanart again after that two-day drawing spree a few weeks ago (see chibi Kita-san and Kenma fanarts), and a second “normal” one after that Haikyuu Redraw challenge that I did some months ago during the series’ end.

Whenever I wanted to draw them, and when I picked my pencil and sketch pad, my mind will go on blank or something, heartbeat rate doubling up speed, cheeks sort of blushing idky lol at the possibility of using some pics as reference. Hate to make eye contact, even if it’s just also a drawing.

So, I didn’t use one here; instead I drew Kenma-kun by memory (after almost everyday saving Haikyuu pins on Pinterest for weeks and checking up other artists’ fanarts and stuff on Instagram). The difficult part of drawing him, I guess, is his hand holding his smartphone—to take a candid(?) snapshot of Manager-chan sleeping (and then sending it to Kuroo ahahaha), as was written on the chapter omake. Fuck hand poses orz. Also I guess, his sitting, too. *shrugs* (And I accidentally sketched him to look a bit like Kunimi because of the hair parting in the middle—but I fixed it na.)

Made another Kenma fanart again, as inspired by the recent chapter in @edensxgarden-sensei’s “Managing the Cat’s Den”.

I did a trad version of the fanart first (Mongol no.1 + fccp) before trying it via ibisPaint. And yep, he wore a yukata, as was described here in this excerpt:
