It's Not Getting Easier
One benefit of using RPEs to judge the intensity of your workouts is that you have a record of how high you ranked a certain bike rides. As time goes on your intensity number gets lower pushing you to make your rides longer and harder. The lesson is that your rides are not getting easier, you are simply getting stronger.
In the Eye of the Storm
I had only 2 weeks to prepare for my last race. Even though I crossed the line an hour sooner than expected, I was under trained and competing at my physical max. This time around I will have 6 weeks of training which includes stretching, weights, plyo, running and a progressive schedule of biking. I just finished week 3 with 61.5 miles of riding. The hill only gets steeper from here. So far my body feels tired but amazing. I love this process. The daily push of making each workout count towards a goal makes me feel truly alive.
