Year end Climb 2016: Mt. Talinis (Panghilakan - Apolong trail.)
It’s been a couple of years since I last climbed a fairly strenuous mountain to hike and it’s giving me the jitters. A thousand things go through my mind: Can I sustain a 4-5 hour hike? Is there a repeat of the 16-hour hike when we exited Mt. Dulang-Dulang? Am I carrying too much or too little food? Will my antiquated backpack disintegrate along the trail? Will my asthma act up on climb day? Where’s my burner???
Dec.26,2016/Mt. Talinis Day -3: Tent and sleeping bag are getting aerated. Backpack getting a sponge bath. Carbo-load with friends @ the Pigafetta. Call a friend for a burner-loan (mine is history). Clean shoes prior to a WD-40 bath (it’s supposed to make it waterproof according to a YouTube experimenter). Wash cookset. Charge my point and shoot. Charge powerbank.
Dec. 27,2016/Mt. Talinis Day -2: Finished my last minute grocery-ing and tried to jam it in my pack. I have a feeling my pack shrunk.
