i hate it when crying makes me feel like a child. i want to be held tight, arms rubbing my back or patting my hair, and comforting words whispered in my ears such as, "it's gonna be okay, you're going to be okay". as i am rocked back and forth, "it's okay to feel this way, we all do sometimes. you're not alone."

i hate it when crying makes me feel like a child. they see my lip quivering, eyes begin to gloss over, the tear stained cheeks and say, "oh come on now, don't cry. it's not that big of a deal." as i lower my head trying to stop more tears from coming, a last drop falls from my chin as they utter, "what's the point in doing this? i get upset too but you don't see me crying about it."

fortress of solitude she peers down at you from the tallest tower

how high and mighty....

always there / seen but not heard / felt but not touched / regarded yet never acknowledged / reaching out and shunned by all

no one can look at the sun for too long without being burned
