Personally, I think the people who planned on buying will still buy them even after seeing it online. They just don't have to wait as long before they can get their hands on the merchandise.
Alright. But I really don’t think so.
Maybe for cheaper things like albums, where you just decide to buy it anyway to support them. (Although I think it has an impact even there).
But deciding to give something like $100 or $200 for something you already have just so you support JYJ.... I doubt everyone does it.
I collect JYJ stuff, and even I am reluctant to give my hard-earned money for things I can easily get online in perfect quality.
For ex. look at JYJ 3hree Voices III. There’s nothing but a DVD in there. Why would I give $70, a ton of money for me, just to have it when I know I will just run it from my computer anyway because it’s easier than looking for DVD, listening to it spinning like crazy inside etc?
But I was really looking forward to seeing it. If I couldn’t have gotten it for the first few months I would have bought it.
I mean, I’m not some paragon of justice and lawfulness, I’m totally ok with people sharing old DBSK variety shows and, for example, Yoochun’s Japanese drama Beautiful Love, etc. even though it’s technically breaking copyright law, because you can’t get those anyway so what’s the harm and it just increases their popularity and in the long run brings in more profit.
Or JYJ stuff that’s a few months or years old, then I agree, people who wanted to buy it would have probably bought it already.
But making it available right away, or even before those that payed money for it get it in their hands... I think it messes with JYJ’s profits.
