daughter of poseidon!reader x leo valdez
It was a widely-known fact that the strawberry fields were one of the best places to make out in camp. So you and your favorite person in camp were bound to go there as the cutest couple in the world (according to your boyfriend himself). Early in the morning, both of you trying your best not to wake up any of your siblings, your boyfriend Leo and you snuck out of your cabins and met at your usual spot, across the rising sun, thirty steps ahead of the small fruit tree that marked the start of the fields.
His curls shine under the sun, for which he puts a hand over his eyes. Eyes crease as you both smile. You pace your way to your boyfriend, careful not to step on any flowers. Once you meet, you hold his hands that he extends towards you, and meet for a kiss in the middle.
âDid you wear your sunscreen this time?â You remember how you scolded him.
âYes, mâlady.â Leo straightened his back and looked at the horizon in an attempt to show how âseriousâ he was.
âSee any cool dreams?â You squeeze his hands.
He snorts. âThatâs the first time that youâve asked me that.â As soon as Leo sees you looking behind your back, he pulls your arms towards him so that youâre hugging him. âHey, what is it?â
âItâs just thatâŠare you sure we wonât get caught?â
Leoâs hand smooths over your back. âLook, even if we do, iâll take care of it, yeah?âŠAre you sure you want to do this?â
You nod, smiling and pulling away slightly to meet his lips.
âThereâs my girl.â Your boyfriend smiles back.
Leo goes to kiss your neck and you hear a set of strong wings flapping. Itâs probably a bird, or your heart, you think to yourself. What you donât expect is a 1300 pound pegasus flying towards you full-speed with your brother on his back.
You yelp, tackling Leo so that he doesnât suffer a grade three concussion or even worse, have him die with his last words being âthereâs my girlâ. âŠActually would that be so bad? Yeah, no, it would. You press him against the grass before Blackjack reaches the ground and whinnies.
âI donât think we got âem, boss.â You scoff at the pegasusâ words.
âPercy!â You yell as you get up, arms opened to your sides in disbelief. âWhat in Tartarus?!â
âYou see, Blackjack and I were, uh,â your brother glances at your boyfriend, who is still lying on the ground with a grimace on his face. ââŠtaking a stroll.â he smiles, feigning apology with his upturned brows and small shrug.
When you turn towards Leo so that you can give him a hand, you hear Percy whisper to the pegasus while still being seated on him, gesturing a landing with one hand and two people with the other. Leo grabs your hand and tries to pull himself up, but youâre busy glaring daggers at your brother.
âYouâre saying that we shouldâve been less visible?â Blackjack snorts.
âI can hear you.â You dust yourself off once you make sure that Leo is on his two feet again.
âWhat was that?â Leo groans. âPercy, why do you have a horse under you?â
Blackjack neighs at your boyfriend, his main point being that pegasi are not horses and that your boyfriend looks utterly ridiculous.
Leo looks at you to translate, and you shrug. Seeing Percy snicker in your peripheral makes you roll your eyes.
âYou know, Perce, the Demeter kids will not be happy with the damage you have caused here.â You put your hands on your hips.
âAnd theyâll be fine with you stomping around and rolling in the field?â Your brotherâs sea green eyes glint in challenge.
âYour pegasus was about to kill us! We had no choice but toââ Your voice pitches higher but you stop speaking when you see Percy mock you by mimicking your talking with his hand. âYou are just so immature!â
âAnd youâre just my sister! Itâs not my fault to want to protect you!â
Your mouth falls agape. You take a deep breath to pull yourself together.
âThere is nothing to protect me from, Perce.â
âItâs not my fault thatââ Percy starts, but you donât want to hear it. You turn around and take Leo by the wrist before your fingers join.
âLetâs go,â you start to walk through the tall plants, your boyfriend for once being too stunned to speak.
When the evening hits, after dinner, Leo invites you his favorite place to be in camp (other than your side). The tension from the morning had mostly worn off, and now you two were alone, as Leo had bribed his siblings not to disturb you with his smuggled Twix bars. You hear your boyfriend sigh from where youâre lying down on the workshop table, which you forced him to wipe down as there were grease and other unknown and very unappealing shimmers.
âHave you asked Will about the protection?â You ask.
âYeah, I got what we need, and Annabeth has been sliding me pamphlets about safe sex all day.â Leo rolls his eyes.
âAnnabethâs in on it too?â Your mouth falls agape. âI swear to godsâŠâ
âHey, at least itâs only them,â Leo adds, looking into your eyes. ââŠAnd Blackjack.â
You laugh, and Leo leans gently in to kiss your lips. He kisses your forehead, your eye, your cheek, your chin, making you ticklish.
You both pause to see if Percy would show up and pound on the bunker door. A beat passes as you look back at each other before your lips crash together again, with unrestrained fervor this time. You smile into the kiss, tasting his utility-belt-breathmint-flavored lips.
Leo takes care of you in ways that you couldnât imagine, and holds your hand all the way through, despite still making silly comments and laughing here and there. Your foot cramps and one of his automatons start moving after he accidentally hits it, but you wouldnât change the experience for the world.
After, youâre both staring at the dangling ceiling lights, and the moths around them. Leo says that the Bunker is too protected for the moths to have come in from outside, and that it was probably one of his siblingsâ jar of moths that has caused the scene. At least theyâre flying, you say. At least theyâre free, he adds.
