HGUC 1/144 A.E.U.G. Mass-Produced Mobile Suit MSA-003 "Nemo"
It's done!! Yet another GM clone to add to my collection. Funnily enough, the Nemo really is a GM clone, as in the lore it's not a deviation on the RGM-79 design but rather a mass-produced suit based on the failed moveable frame prototypes such as the Delta Gundam and later Hyaku-Shiki.
I picked up this kit to add a unique colour to my display, as it's got a greenish-turquoise that stands out from all the red and white, as well as to flesh out my Zeta collection.
Despite it's unique colour, the colour separation is super disappointing. The main secondary colour on this kit, apart from the navy and turquoise, is bright red, for all of the vents, the soles of the feet, and for the cockpit (just like the Mk-II Gundam). However, there isn't even a single red runner in the box! These would be really simple parts to colour separate, but instead I had to spend a lot of time painting all these parts red. There's a complete set of foil stickers for colour correction, but I didn't feel like they were worth it.
Apart from a bit of colour correction, I added a bit of chrome and gold detail with my paint markers, including some chrome behind the visor, which really makes it pop. I also added some detailing text and a few A.E.U.G. stickers I got from my new (unbuilt) GM-II kit, as well as a few other spares I had lying around. This was only my second time freehanding text on a custom suit, but I think it turned out pretty nicely.
I did a very in-depth breakdown of the weathering process I used for this build, which you can find here. I find complex weathering is often really good for these older simpler kits to supplement the lack of surface detail.
The articulation is pretty disappointing, with limited shoulder mobility, and only single-jointed knees and elbows. However it can still pull a nice pose.
This kit comes with 7 different option hands, including two closed fists, two open fists, a pistol grip, and two open hands. It's really nice to see such a wide variety of hands as it opens up more options for cool poses. The kit also includes a uniquely shaped shield, which can collapse by rearranging parts, an updated beam rifle with a swing-out foregrip, and two rear-skirt mounted beam sabers with fluorescent green UV-reactive effects parts.
I really liked this kit, despite the flaws with articulation and colour accuracy. It was a lot of fun to build, paint, and customize, and it's a really good looking GM-clone.
All that's left for now is my GM-II, to round out my EFF display. Watch this space!
