MS E3 High Points
Halo opens the show. No surprises.
Re:Core trailer! Metroid Prime creator gets a new IP and it looks great.
Backwards compatibility with Xbox 360 games. Publishers have to ‘okay’ the title for release, but it looks solid. Hopefully there won’t be gaps because of this.
Xbox Elite controller with reconfigurable buttons. This is really interesting because it is pushing out the 3rd party makers of specialized controllers. It should really make the FPS and Fighting game communities happy though. The controllers have always been a standout area for MS and a well-constructed controller for the enthusiast crowd is a good call.
Forza 6 looks good. Nothing insane there.
From Software sent some fresh stuff to MS to show for Dark Souls 3. There was a big dude on fire.
Aurora44/Ashen looks like a co op adventure puzzler and I’m so into that, but then half of the people died, so that’s probably not the case. Sky whale.
OMG CUPHEAD IN ITS OWN SEGMENT (and not a mix of other things)
Xbox Preview system. Pretty cool.
Creator of DayZ reveals Ion. Something about space.
Tomb Raider goes for an adrenaline-packed gameplay segment. Lara feeds on a deer.
Rare is going to sell you 30 games from the back-catalog for 30$. They’re also making a pirate game. Meh.
Valve VR, Oculus, HoloLens! All the VR!
Minecraft build for HoloLens with a live demo. Minecraft on a table really is LEGO but better and for a new generation. This is what kids want.
Gears of War’s dedicated studio announces Gears 1 remaster. And one more thing: Jamie Lannister stars in Gears of War 4.
Phil caps off the conference with “if you’re still on 360 now is the time”. Clearly indicating what MS’s internal talking points have been for the past year. “We had an insane install base last gen, where are all of them? Let’s get them upgraded”. Back compat is a big deal and arguably the bigggest step for that.
