So, as Iāve mentioned in tags before, Iāve not actually read Homestuck. Or rather, all of it. Only read a small bit.
But like Iāve also said before in tags, Iām a sucker for details about alien cultures and lore so I did wind up reading up a lot about the Trolls from Alternia out of interest anyway.
It was while doing that, I wound up finding thisĀ āWigglerSimā and thinking- why not give it a bit of a go? Whatās the harm in checking it out?
So I did.Ā
This is the introduction screen above, although the jade blood looks different for different people.Ā
What the game is, is exactly what it says there: watching wigglers until they pupate into toddlers and go off into the world.
Not much is actually known about the jade blood doing it, not even a name so Iāll just call them Ms Jade for now, but a few things could be argued for them.
For instance, on one hand, the wigglers are spoiled with toys as they grow and mutant ones arenāt just culled, which is a sign of benevolence.
But on the other hand, the fact theyāre getting away with doing all of this, as well as how they hypothetically could raise multiple fuchsia wigglers (when extras are definitely supposed to be culled)...
...Thereās also their dubious sourcing of them. Buying the eggs as opposed to getting access through a mother grub and then rearing and adopting them out for a profit...all this in mind, the fact that theyāre still getting Empire funding means they are most definitely hard-core lying to some people.
For now, I think the best way to put Ms Jade is probably like troll-Swindle, except with babies and actually caring for the welfare of the stock.
That and looking consistently tired, which is doubtless a result of having babies for stock.
Anyway, for anyone whoās actually interested, hereās how the attempt at raising a batch of that stock actually went:
Tofgir Osridu- the first wiggler in Ms Jadeās custody. A lime blood, named through the gift of ātroll name generatorā.
Hereās the little biter here:
This one wasnāt too bad, as long as left alone that is. Got fussy with some toys, but other than that just kept themself occupied huddling in with a bunch of scarves:
The issue came when trying to introduce Toffee here to others.
Skiofa Giello- a fuchsia blood and the next to be introduced in to the āplaypenā. Looked very grumpy from the start. A sign.
Ski picked a fight with Toffee like 5 seconds after coming into existence.
Which is why I called Toffee theĀ ābiterā. Kid was very consistent with that threat once developed enough to talk.
After this disastrous attempt at providing a playpen friend, there was another addition.Ā
Othiye Rhitir- a burgundy blood, their egg being able to be bought with leftover funds from what was used to buy Skiās.Ā
Youāll see here that this one here has a mutation. The one eye they do have possessing three pupils.
Something which makes me thinkĀ āpsychicā of some sorts, considering that burgundy bloods have a high tendency to produce those with that kind of gifts. Along with how trolls with unusual numbers of pupils also tend to have gifts of sorts.Ā
Either way, a sweetie who can do no wrong. Just wants to make friends while Toffee wants to be left alone and Ski wants to brawl.
Now, as for how they turned out after moving out:
Toff had the best luck of all of them.
Lived a peaceful, happy life with loyal friends. Which, for Alternia, is a very good, very rare and thus also very surprising achievement.Ā
Seems they stopped being an isolationist too! Which, have to admit, of this batch, them being the social one is surprising.
Sadly, the other two did not have such luck.
Ski continued their proud trend of picking fights, apparently growing proficient in the task as well as quite ambitious. Until, that is, unfortunately losing the big one all fuchsia bloods are sadly eventually expected to face.
They did wait surprisingly long to challenge though. So improved patience there. A positive step which at least bought them some more time.
Also, the fact that their lusus is very notably not the usual heiress/empress one makes me doubt if they were technically the legitimate heiress. Thinking that the egg that was bought was possibly an extra, supposed-to-be-culled one.Ā
As for Othiye, they tragically didnāt have good luck either:
At least they got a chance to stick it to the bourgeoisie.
The finding out the secrets too adds to my suspicion they might have been psychic too. Good use of the gift there in that case.
Hereās to hoping the next batch gets at least a better ratio of good stuff happening to them as opposed to 1/3.
The names all start with P because the decision was made that their should be a theme with batches. Itās of note that originally there was only supposed to be three of them too, but mutant eggs are free so when the option to buy them came up...what sort of Troll-Swindle would say no?
The best of this batch are Peeksi and strangely enough, violet blood Pimzim. Running around, trying to resolve wiggler fights and make morails. Pigrux isnāt too bad either, cares less about any other wigglers and more about playing with all the toys.
