Hi there! I was reading one of your posts recently and realized that you're very organized with your time and trades. you must be, anyway, in order to make great art at such pace. I have a decently cared for instagram account now, but I can't seem to organize my time well enough to make art to post+trades+commissions+freelance work, and I'm wondering. How do you organize it? do you have a daily schedule? do you wake up, make art for several hours and then rest?
Hello! ahh thank you ;; !! I've got many messages about this before and it made me stop the autopilot and look objectively at my methods for once haha
For commercial work I try to find styles that I feel comfortable with and can pull off fairly quickly, I focus on the aspects I want to emphasize and keep the rest simple. To meet deadlines and price or quality standards you need the reliability and consistency of a practiced style, this also helps greatly with your shcedules, if you can accurately estimate how long it takes you to finish a drawing then you can plan ahead! Timing yourself is a good idea, if you don’t have much time to draw, use it as efficiently as you can, what is the simplest way to convey the message or feeling you want the drawing to have, you can go all out on studies and illustrations later when time is not a factor. I draw everyday anywhere from two to six hours whenever I can, usually at night. I try to stay at one finished drawing every two or three days, if I don't make it then I try to make up for it the following day, this is a personal preference to push myself to let go of drawings instead of wasting days trying to fix a mistake that I'm not good enough yet to understand, I find that quantity over quality is best for me when learning art and fighting the anxiety that it brings. I sketch or type every idea I have right away no matter what I am working on, then save it for later when I'm free. I plan which days I'll be working on what and stick to it as much as possible. With my current schedule I don't have much time left for studying which is...bad but my friends and I came up with this study day thing where they come to my house after work once a week and we all spend that day learning something new! it makes it more fun and organized in a way and something to look forward to! I hope any of this helps you with your planning 😊💕 best of luck in your art endeavours!!
