He moved to New York when he got into Syracuse University, his first choice was a major in plastic arts but finally opted for a finance and history major, Keller never was a top student, nevertheless he completed his major.
Later in his life Keller joined the National Guard of the United States of America, he served in the intelligence unit, after he was discharged he returned to New York and started looking for a job, he first worked as a waiter at a restaurant in Queens, afterwards he got a job in New Haven Connecticut also as a waiter.
Mr. Keller: lover of New York’s Nightlife.
In 1975 Keller gets a job as a barman in a joint named “La Jardin” on 43th west street, it was at this joint where he first got a glimpse at New York’s glamorous nightlife. He fitted right in, he had the right presence and attitude which combined with a marvelous service helped Keller to make a name for himself, it was also at this joint where he got to meet Steve Rubell and Scharger partners of the renowned club “Studio 54”.
It was in the spring of 1975 when Keller got hired as barman at Studio 54. Keller quickly became a familiar face behind the bar of that famous nightclub by creating and mixing delicious drinks, he started to get close with the costumers, which also gave him really large tips, he even got close with celebrities that went to the club, and these relations got him hired for underground private events and luxury parties. Keller left the club in 1981filled with inspiration that made him into the Mr. Keller we know today.
“I don’t pour drinks; I pour experiences into a glass” Mr. Keller.
When he left Studio 54 he had many friends from the American and European Jet-set and New York’s important bankers and investors like Andy Taylor, alongside with Andy, Keller opened a live music restaurant in Queens, they named it “M&M” after his name (Marc Keller). The joint held up at New York’s underground’s top clubs until a police raid in 1985, after the raid Keller and his partner were charged with tax evasion, obstruction of justice, and conspiracy they were fined a large amount of money.
Mr. Keller’s career in New York’s nightlife allowed him to conquer thousands of women along the world, he also received wonderful gifts from his friends such as expensive jewels, watches, cars, properties and even stock from different companies. He got to travel a lot but it was in 1986 when he visited London where he got an offer to develop a project never seen before in that city which will focus on a small social target, an exclusive club which later was named after him “Mr. Keller”.
“Nice to everyone, sociable with many, intimate with a few, friends with one, enemy to no one.” Mr. Keller.
This First joint was an old farm, they adapted it into a private club influenced by New York’s underground nightlife, this club was for London’s top people even though the atmosphere had to be underground so no more than 100 people got in, of course there was room for only one great host Marc Keller Jr. himself, in that way Mr. Keller’s club was built into a concept.
By 1991 he had established 3 underground private clubs in London’s most exclusive neighborhoods and its surroundings with exactly the same logistics and concept. Mr. Keller never found a problem with the locations; they were stores, old houses basements, even abandoned churches and markets. In 1997 more than 15 clubs had existed through London, Belgium, Germany, France and Spain, in every one of them the host was the one and only Mr.keller always surrounded by beautiful women and showing off his unique personality.
By the late 90’s Keller went back to America in order to keep developing his concept that’s already positioned in Europe.
The number of underground private clubs Mr. Keller owns around the world is unknown, but one thing is for sure, when he get’s into a new city or country he visited there’s no doubt he’ll hang for a while and share the M.R. KELLER experience.
“LIFE IS A BIG PARTY…DANCE” Mr. Keller.
