Hyeri stepped out of the registrar’s office, having decided to enroll in Phoenix University - finally. She thought she could do more with her time around here. She never saw herself in university. She thought the teachers would just keep reporting her to the office of discipline. She had never set mind to it until she finally understood why trouble seemed to be on her tail.
Maybe it will be better this time. People would understand if she accidentally broke chairs and punched through walls.
Maybe she should work on finding a job next. Goodness knows there were a lot of establishments here that needed an extra hand. Deciding to grab some lunch first before going around her new neighborhood, she walked the long hallway, observing her fellow demigods interact. She doubted that she would know anyone here. What were the odds? Hyeri didn’t want to see anyone from her past, anyway. No one accepted her there.
Not that she needed acceptance. She didn’t.
The chatter died down as she watched the sun filter through the high windows of the aged, but elegant building. It wasn’t until she met familiar brown eyes that she stilled, wide eyes staring into his own. Hyeri couldn’t believe it. Here. In a place for demigod. Him.
Buried images resurfaced before her eyes and they were in a dingy two floor apartment again, the floorboards were vibrating because of the bass. It was so, so hot, and she was buzzing.
She ran.
Oh, gods, she thought, over and over - why did she run away? She must have looked so cowardly. Hyeri bet her father was rolling in his grave somewhere far away at this moment.
Hyeri checked behind her if he was following. If he was a demigod like her... he’d surely have the strength to follow if he wanted to.
