Through the Storm // minxchester
Joe knew he was fucked as soon as Vince got him alone and more vulnerable than ever before. His parents were dead, and Frank was, unfortunately, out of the country on some kind of internship for an archaeology expedition and wasnât able to be reached beyond a satellite phone, which didnât often have any signal. Vince had preyed on Joeâs loneliness, being an Omega on his own, and he broke down his defenses, making empty promises of love and bonding, but the instant Joe was at Vinceâs old town way down South, those promises turned to threats.
Vince wasnât looking for a mate. He was looking for a doll. Â
It didnât last long, thank god. When the sex was actually nice, Joe had ended up pregnant, despite the fact that he and Vince werenât considered âmatesâ in the legal sense of the term; Vince never Marked him or Claimed him, nor did they marry. And once Joe knew he was pregnant, without a shadow of a doubt, he planned his escape from the bastard, hiding his symptoms as best as he could until day Vince left the window in the bathroom unlocked. It was a bit of a tight squeeze, but Joe was able to make it, and he made a run for it, with nothing but the clothes on his back, and some cleverly squirreled away money to keep him just barely afloat.
And he traveled, for months. Mainly he was trying to keep moving in an effort to keep Vince off of his trail, in case the possessive Alpha tried to track him down. And it was exhausting; every week that passed, he got a little bit bigger, and his symptoms became apparent. People pitied the poor homeless pregnant Omega, giving him food and money, and some extra clothes when he could stop at shelters for a few days to just rest. But he didnât dare go to clinics, in case his name was on some kind of list, and studied what he could, trying to adhere to a diet that would keep him and the baby healthy, and even stealing some vitamins in drug stores.
As a result, he didnât know just how close to his due date he was getting to, and one very late night, as he was walking up a highway in the backroads, Joe could feel his stomach cramping on and off for hours, often making him pause to try and breathe through the pain. Figuring it was just stress, he felt a little relieved when he managed to make it to a rest stop, heading into the bathroom to try and splash some water onto his face, only to feel, with a sense of horror, his own water breaking, splashing onto the floor below him.
âAh fuck,â he hissed. âKid youâve got some bad timing.â
