“For the past several years Carrier Ethernet has been promoted as the technology of choice for next generation services. Evolving out of the enterprise, Ethernet has proved a viable option as an access, aggregation and more recently core transport technology. But what makes Ethernet “Carrier Ethernet”. This workshop looks at the evolution of Ethernet and the benefits it brings as a networking architecture. We look at what differentiates Ethernet for the enterprise and Carrier Ethernet as an infrastructure alternative and the protocols and standards necessary for this transition. Specifically we will look at how IP/MPLS enables Carrier Ethernet and how more recent developments with MPLS-TP can provide additional benefits.”
