This is a scene from a fic I wrote years ago where Fane attacks this young couple, kidnapping Maria and leaving Alexander nearly dead and deep scars on his face. Alexander is blamed for Maria’s death and spends some time in an asylum for his ramblings of a vampire abducting her. When he gets out, he becomes a vampire hunter of sorts, researching everything he can about the creatures. He eventually meets Fane’s brother Marin, who goes by the alias Damien (the name of one of Fane’s slaves he encountered). I’ve been thinking about their story a lot lately and realized it needs some tweaking. Biggest problem is I have no idea why Fane would bother taking Maria all the way back to Romania with him instead of just killing her. And why he would be so sloppy to leave a witness behind. So those two things need to be addressed. I’m playing with an idea that the couple possibly knows Fane due to Alexander having some sort of business dealings with him, but no idea where to go with that. Need to figure it out for my whole Echoes series rewrite though. This has sat unfinished for so long because the background felt so busy with all the textures. Then today @mimmimeart gave me the suggestion to try blurring the background.
